Leviia
Ok so over the last 5 years I have been going to the doctors for some severe sugar cravings. And I'm not talking about "OOO Garlic bread just a small bite ..." kinda cravings.. I mean like with drawl, shakes, headaches, body aches, flu like symptoms and an almost unconscious habit of eating anything with carbs in it (not just the breads but anything sweet). I've not cut bread out of my diet but gone to 100 whole grain breads. I limit myself daily, eat a ton of vegi's, fruits, I stay awake from dairy as I have almost no tolerance for it. I'm not a huge red meat fan but I do eat it once and awhile. Usually chicken, fish, turkey .... I walk, usually, 5-6 days a week and do resistance training every other day. I'm 6 foot, female and I have finally gotten down to about 198. But my problem is that about every 3-4 months I'll get sugar cravings SO badly that I get the above symptoms severely and it's only getting worse. I'll gain like 20 lbs back easily even if I do agonize through these bad craving periods and not touch any sweets. And then my trek of losing it all starts all over and 3-4 months later WHAP .... I'm starting to get discouraged. I'm not looking to be stick thin and look like some super model but god I really wish I could just be healthy and then STAY healthy. I've had my diet altered so many times by the doc's and nutritionists and stuff it's insane. Now when I call my doc and tell him I'm really having a hard time he's just like "Well don't touch the candy bars and you'll be fine..." And before anyone says "Go find another doctor" this is the 5th one so far. Anyone else have any similar problems? Sound familiar? Have any tips? I wish I could just get rid of the severe cravings .. the rest I can handle lol. Thanks.
jthorne
I seem to remember when the Atkins Diet was hot, they recommended L-Glutamine for sugar cravings. My mom tried it, and said it helped her not crave sugar so much. Do you use a lot of artificial sweetners? They say that can cause sugar cravings to increase.
Duckduckgoose
One candy bar every month isn't going to kill you, unless you are allergic to the ingredients.
