Another minor thing you don't want to forget about is that quite a few sections of the P90X program last longer than an hour. Some are far less like the ab-ripper obviously.

As a man, your body is not meant to undergo rigorous physical stress for longer than 45 minutes at a time. It's my opinion that no matter what your goals are, as a guy you should try to confine your routine to within a 45 minute window. Your body will not hold it's testosterone spike for much longer than that - and after that point you are doing more harm than good to your body.

Like others have said, 25-35 minutes is ample time for a work out if done correctly. Remember, you're training your body, as in teaching it to do what you want it to do - you're not punishing it.

The longest dvds are the lifting ones and there is a lot of time in between exercises....especially because Tony has his people go write down the number of reps and the weight after each exercise.

The longest dvd is about 52 mins (besides yoga obviously, but the rigorus part of yoga is only 35 mins. The rest is poses and relaxation). The first 5-8 mins are for stretching and warm up, as well as, the last 5-8 mins for cool down and stretching. All in all you are not doing more than 45 mins rigorous exercise at one time.

The ab ripper is challenging. I'm on day 71 of 90 and I still can't keep up on all of the moves. Some I can. Just do what you can like you have been and you will be amazed at how far you will come. It's all part of the process.

Take your time with the moves and don't worry about keeping up. I highly suggest a recovery drink. I use whey protein and L-glutamine powder to help aid in the repair of muscles. You can get this at Vitamin Shoppe or GNC. The people there can help you pick out the best brands. This will help you a lot and is really worth it.

Has anyone had any luck with this program? I tried it at a friends house and I only did a little but it was quite interesting. Although, its three payments of 40 dollars. Do you feel its worth the price or just better to do other exercise routines?

I P90X and love it, primarily because I can do it at home whenever I like without a ton of equipment, Tony is super corny, and the routine varies enough to keep me interested.

I dated someone who did P90X and got super-ripped, but his body type is compact, so it's much easier for him to bulk up.

First off...Thank you so much the help from everyone.. I feel I have finally found something that I can stick with and pull through on. I just finished my first week and I just did chest and back again. I think I already lost a pound or two as its easier to fit into my work pants hehe. While the outside has not changed so much, I definitely feel much more inner strength and I feel it will only get better. I've been eating to the T almost, as I'm still adjusting to the diet schedule. I have only drank water and milk and followed the guidelines to the best of my ability.

I took your advice starry and bought whey protein and It definitely helps my muscles tremendously. I will keep you guys posted and when 30 days rolls around I'll put some pictures up...

That's great! The whey definitely helps a lot. The one time I didn't drink it after a cardio work out my calf muscles got really sore for a few days.

BTW, I'm on day 74!!! So exciting to be almost done!! I have dropped from 138 to a lean, mean 129. It'll get hard to stick to after about the first month and a half, but you just have to push yourself through. It's not hard because of strength or anything, but because it just becomes a grind. That is how it is with anything that requires dedication though. As long as you push yourself past the slump in motivation, you will make it to the end!

Awesome starry. I'm glad to hear that, I am still pushing through the program. I can feel myself getting somewhat used to the workouts but then I do them again next week and become sore all over again. (Not as bad though) I have lost at least 2 waist sizes and 10 pounds or so. I'm looking great so far and I'm only on day 23. I did core synergistic today and it was a blast. I gotta post pictures later on for motivation to others...=)
