Two weeks!? Entertainment ideas.

Recommended Posts

Hey folks,

So the sort-of-not-quite-maybe-SO is coming in TWO WEEKS! AHHHHHHH!

He'll be here for two and a half weeks. I have VERY little money. As in less than $300 (was laid off a month ago and am not currently working). He knows this and doesn't care but I want to show him a good time. What can I do? What do you guys do to entertain your LD SO? He's spending a lot of money on this trip and I really don't want him to get bored or feel it was a waste.

Lemmie know!

Thanks

^^ Ditto

Taking walks around town and cooking nice dinners together are also inexpensive things to do. Has he ever been to your area? If not, I'm sure there's a ton of "touristy" type things to do too...me and my SO did a whole lot of that during our very first visits.

Nope he's never been here. I hail from the Okanagan valley in British Columbia, and he's from western Ireland. A nice LOOOOOOOOONG journey for him.

We don't spend much money when we're together, but we're only together 4 or 5 days max, we wander around town, go shopping together, go to cafes, go for drives to places which look interesting, we went to a bird sanctuary when I was with him last time as I love birds. We watch movies at home, cook together, play games (love backgammon), talk, cuddle (and the rest, hehe).

You don't need to spend much money on entertainment.

I even enjoy just going to buy food together with him  Nice to do ordinary things together as a couple :)

HOH, you brought up SUCH a good point.

I actually enjoy going food shopping with my boyfriend. Call me crazy, but it's the little things that everyone gets to do all the time together that are a real treat for us.

I love hearing others enjoy the grocery shopping thing too! Loved that last time I visit my boyfriend. We went to Home Depot when he was here, cuz he was fixing something at my house, love that too.

Sometimes we just take a ride or walk on the beach. walk anywhere together is free and fun.

I think all the ideas on here are great. I hear what you are saying about the money. I am going to be visiting again in about 2 weeks and he is all worried about not having enough money, work stuff for him. But, coming from the one visiting, he won't care what you do. I tell my boyfriend that all the tinme, I am coming to see him, it doesn't matter if we stayed in the house the whole time. And I am sure your SO is feeling the same way I am. And what care what you do just as long as it is with you.

Thanks guys, that really helps soothe my nerves. Since it is his first time here I'll try and just really show him the beauty of this place and maybe take a cheap trip to the hot springs. I know I'm mostly looking forward to being close to him... amazingly the thing I miss most about going to see him is curling up together on the bus, on the train, at the stations... just being with him. Nothing adrenaline pumping or show stopping, just living with him I guess.

LOL I thought it was implied that I meant aside from that. ;)

Heh. It's not always implied. My experiences lean towards the idea that there's really not all that much time after that particular form of entertainment is accounted for.

You didn't tell us the type of place you live in. Rural/Suburban/Urban?

I'm in a fairly suburban place, definitely leaning more to the rural side I suppose. There's a bit of a market I guess you'd say but four minutes walk away you're by a creek or by the lake and it's completely quiet and disconnected from the hustle and bustle.

If it's warm, go for a hike. If it's not, build a campfire (if legal) and lounge out in the backyard (if you have one).

Have fun. Cook something new. Watch a movie or two (his pick then your pick).

You might be able to check our your local area newspaper. They usually always have a "Things to do" section.

Thanks Creighton!

It will probably rain a shwack load while he's here, which sucks cause he's from Ireland. He's seen it. But it might be nice to set out the tarp outside and BBQ I suppose... ahhh je suis excited.

Here are some ideas:

-Going to the park (walking on the long trail, riding bikes, having a picnic)

-Going to museums (I'm sure there are some free museums or free admissions on certain days)

-Live free show (I'm not sure where you live but in some places, there are free live music on certain days, check online)

-Record shopping (If you and your beau are both music lovers, going to a record store and just "window shopping" can be quite an adventure)

-Rent movies (Stay in late at night and watch movies)
