Feel silly even posting this

But at what point do you cull people from your facebook friend list?

Since my divorce, I have had numerous friendships go south. The most bizarre thing is that my ex and I remained very good friends, but other people apparently sat on the sidelines with popcorn waiting for the train wreck, and when they didn't get it, they created drama I guess they needed. I was forced to back away from these people to make certain my "ex-tended" family remained in tact. It's been rather painful, especially considering that I have known one girl since I was 11, the rest for about 15 years.

Do you just leave old friends on your FB list and just ignore status posts? Or do you just say screw it and delete them?

There is a way to remove status updates from your main screen from specific people, right? Perhaps that is the way to go, as I really want to avoid further drama.

I cannot believe this is even a topic. *sigh* Drama is so stupid.

I say just cut and run. First off, it's not like FB notifies you when you're deleted. Second, you can delete them and then, if you want to take it a step further, block them. Then it's as if you don't have a facebook...they won't see comments you post on mutual friends pages or status updates...nor will you see anything they post. Truth is, even if you block seeing their status update, if you keep them as a friend, they will be able to comment on all of your things...so if they really want to create drama they will go to your page to do it.

Social networks have brought highschool mentality into adulthood with a screaming rage of hormonal imbalance and neurosis....I despise having to tiptoe around people I rarely see and therefore refuse to do it. If anyone other than the deleted party asks you why you can just say that you were going through your friend list and deleting anybody you haven't interacted with online in x amount of days/weeks/months because your news feed was way too cluttered...or any number of excuses...but more than anything, unless you plan to create a new page and have only a select few on it where you post how you actually feel about things and then run this other page as a decoy (way too time consuming if you ask me and juvenile). I say delete them.

I say just get rid of them, but if you prefer to just block them from seeing your status updates, you can do that. You can make a list that you can add anyone you want to, and then choose which information to block them from seeing.
