In Greta's defense, I think she made the "like sluts" comment because of a previous post. A male poster explained the attraction to strip clubs by men. He said that men like an innocent girl on the outside of the bedroom, but they like a "slut" in the bedroom. That is why they go to strip clubs to fantasize about it having a "slutty" sexy type of girl. Hence, the "slut" comment. You noticed she put it in quotes. I just wanted to clear that up before a fight broke out. LOL :p

Anyway, I do agree completely with you about the women who strip. I, too, know many strippers and most of them either do it because they are putting themselves through school or are single moms trying to get by.

If I took Greta's comments out of context, I completely apologize! Thanks for clearing that up dolpinsunsyn, and I completely with your post as well! :)

What men want is a slut in the bedroom but a lady in public, and going to a strip bar turns us on because there are supposed to be like sluts...But don't get me wrong men don't want true sluts we just like to look....

hope that made sense

This is the post I was quoting from.

Thank you Dolphinsunshyn. Just a misunderstanding - no harm done :)

Why don't you go yourself to see what the men like about them?

I got a stack of free passes if you ever make to the St. louis area. ;) LOL

It is just another form of entertainment. It is all about fantasy. Some can even go as far to call it an "art". Women are beautiful and it is perfectly fine to admire them. I don't think it is a threat. When I have a boyfriend, I usually am the one that suggests going! LOL They love it. Especially if the dancer is paying "extra" attention to me.

And, no, I'm not a lesbian.

It is just all in good fun.

I did, in fact, go to a strip club with my husband and another male friend. It was all very benign, and I agree that women's bodies are beautiful to look at ( not that men's can't be, it's just not the same) We did have a good time, I even was sitting next to the stage & put money in her garter, but when my husband asked me to pick out a girl so he could buy me a lap dance I became very uncomfortable, maybe someday - but not on my 1st real visit. :o I'm not a lesbian either! :)

I will also say that at the 2nd place we went to, there were more strippers & some very obvious drug use going on. A much seedier establishment than the first. :(

Any ladies ever go to see male strippers? I have, and it was the same thing -- eye candy. I even got a ride on one guy's shoulders! hahaha!!

Anyway, they were certainly niiiiice to look at but I never considered them as anyone I'd be interested in dating or for anything other than just looking at... and giving lots of my $ bills to... with my teeth.... ;)

I couldn't distance from the women. I knew they were just working and that they had families, etc. It's easier to fantasize with porn. I kept giving them biographies as they performed-- filling in their lives.

Also, it's a turn-off to look at naked women with a bunch of men. Other lookers detract from the experience.

These clubs just don't do it for me.

Word.

I've been to many in my life, and pretty much can't stand any of them.

Besides the very honest reasons zar posted up above, I'll add these:

1) f***ing seedy-ass men...gross people doing gross things

2) It's just makes me feel dirty...when you watch how some of the men act at these places you really start to feel bad about yourself, and being there

3) Lot's of money, and it's a piss hole waste of it.

4) See number 1 & 2 above...

I'm amused at the rather sexist nature of the question. There have been strip clubs for women for many, many years now. Why not ask women why they go? I guess women are going for intellectual reasons. You must have been surprised that the men that have responded were able to string a sentence together - or were you expecting a chorus of grunts and groans in response?

I, personally, see no alure in strip clubs. They are trashy women who are exploiting/degrading women voluntarily through their practices... they take sex, which should be something sacred to relationships, and make them a public commodity for a price tag.

I think they are sleezy, wrong, and I have not, nor will I ever go to one.

As a feminist, I am offended by your generalizations that strippers are trashy, and I disagree with your theory that strippers are exploiting and degrading women voluntarily through their practices. For one, I have many stripper friends, and unless you are them, you truly do not understand their circumstances. As I have mentioned earlier on this board, some of them were working to pay for their law school and or medical school tuition, and may now be YOUR lawyer or DOCTOR. Others work to put food on the table for their children. This is truly commendable. I abhore the old school, white middle class version of feminism, where exclusive, prudish, and judgmental values are placed upon other women. Women need to realize that real feminism is accepting the true reality of women and affording them equal rights; whether a woman is an attorney, or a stripper or prostitute.

Sexual entertainment would not be a public commodity if MEN were not willing to pay for it!!! It's pure economics, supply and demand. And I don't agree that sex is something sacred to relationships. Sex is an act of pleasure that may or may not include emotions and relationships. Must one be in a relationship in order to have sexual relations with another person? As long as there is no deception, and dishonesty, then who are you to judge? Yes, I have problems with men who frequent strip clubs without being honest with their wives/gfs. The wives and gfs need to understand that if they cannot handle knowing, maybe they should not ask and therefore not be told. Yes, my boyfriend goes to strip clubs, with my blessings, and sometimes I accompany him. I trust him, because chances are, cheating is more likely to occur at work, out in the streets, schools, etc, then a strip club!
