I have a couple of questions for anyone who may know

I recently became involved with someone who is having some issues emotional more than anything. They have been having fears about being HIV positive and they have been tested before but it came up negative. Well first question is if someone has been affected for at least 3 years would they have any symptoms? Even slight ones like the sores in their mouth especially if they have a lot of bacteria in their mouth? Also I myself had donated plasma before and had been doing so for nearly a year when I got called into the office one day that let me know they had an abnormal test result from my plasma. They found something but since the test isn't specific they couldn't say what it was and at the time i was smoking crack on a regular basis like every 5 days or so sometimes more but usually about that often and I was wondering if it was possible something like that may have shown up on the test as something abnormal? Other than smoking crack I didn't participate in any other high risk behavior and I never had sex for money or drugs i payed out of my own money and now i have been clean over a year. my partner just had an aids test done yesterday and i'm scared to death it is going to come out positive neither of us have any symptoms my partner is a small thin but normal like 145lbs and i am a large person like 270-300lbs and neither of us have began loosing weight or anything but is there still a chance especially since I had an abnormal test that we may be infected? Any support or answers would really help

There is a difference between HIV positive and having AIDS. HIV positive people are carrying the disease, but the symptoms you speak of don't usually develop until the HIV turns into AIDS. HIV can stay dormant for years, but will still be spread from partner to partner through unprotected sexual contact or through other risky (sharing needles) behavior. My suggestion to you is to talk to your doctor or go into your local Planned Parenthood office and get more information. They are experts and will be able to provide you with better, more in-depth information than we can here.

Congratulations on staying clean! Keep it up!! :)

I am still waiting on the results from my partners test they were suppossed to be back today but still no news i feel like i am going crazy i have heard so many different things and i am praying that when they did that test on my plasma a couple of years ago that they actually found the cocaine in my system because they didn't get give me any contact information or anything and no one from the health dept contacted me so i am praying it was just the drugs they found! i feel like my world is spinning out of control and now that my life has changed for the better i hope and Pray that all comes out well i know so of the choices i made were bad but no one deserves this least of all my partner! i wish i had a REAL phsycic to tell me the future even though at this point i don't think that would even help
