Dating is turning me off

Yep, I'd agree it's much more common in women.

Which is a shame because many men are turned off by insecure women. During the brief time I worked as a security guard, one of the employees looked like a model(not sure if she was interested in me or someone else; a story I'll get to later), but I overheard her talking about wanting to lose some weight(she couldn't have weighed more than 110-115 pounds at about 5'6"). I was instantly turned off.

Striving for perfection is not the same as being insecure. I've never weighed a pound over 110 but I sometimes question my abs. When you're comparing yourself to other beautiful people in the industry, you tend to look for flaws that the average eye might not see. And while we may obsess over some minor flaws, we are still VERY confident people. (Generalizing here, I'm not speaking for all models).

She was skinny enough as it was. Even one of the workers was saying that if she lost any more weight, she would start to lose it in the face. I couldn't help but be put off.

Wait a second...

you are so attractive that cougars are hitting on you when you work at department stores??????

Is this a put on or something???

The next time that happens, just look that nice lady straight in the eye, tell her when you get off from work, and ask her to come back to pick you up in her car, take you out to dinner, then go back to her place for the rest of the evening.

Say it exactly like that.

Then when you get back to her place, tell her you're a virgin, and ask her to teach you all she knows.

Physically attractive doesn't automatically equal extroverted, player, sexually experienced.

It seems to be the general consensus that if a guy lacks confidence in dating (or attracting females) he must be unattractive.

In most cases, I'd say that's pretty accurate. But it's not always the case.

The "rules" of dating are I think more for beginners or people returning to dating after a long break. I think "dating" is much more formalised in the States than in the UK and there is more emphasis on men paying, picking up the woman in the man's car, etc.

Still, its good to be aware of rules and traditions, and even try them or experiment with them.

Then you can break them when you find your own sense of who you are and what you want and how to go about it!

I've never been to the UK, so I can't say for sure how things work over there. Here in the states, I believe that dating is more formalized in the south and midwest, basically the hick areas. I live in the largest metro area after New York, so I don't really think it's as formalized. There's a much higher population and more options, so I guess there's no need to be formal.

Dating culture also differs by geographic location. For instance, from reading LS, seems to me multidating is not accepted in the UK, but here in Southern California, that's by default.

Southern California happens to be one of the toughest places to date and get relationships. Many of my co-workers and friends, now and past, from other countries or states, have a hard time adjusting. But they did just fine in their home town.

So my personal experience, is that LS is pretty spot on. I don't have experience with being mistreated or being cheated on, but the poor etiquette, acting selfish, hot/cold games during the "courtship" phase is pretty much carbon copy of my experience. In fact I think LS is advocating people to be too nice. If you're nice you'll get used.

Darren Taylor, if you have women flirting with you, why not flirt back and get a date? You seem to have a lot of opportunities that I wish I have.

There's more options, so I'd say dating is easier. Relationships may be another story though.

Because I can't differentiate genuine interest and those simple looking for attention, the latter of which being all too common.

Ah yes, Southern California women. That's how they are.

So do what I do. Push forward until I get a no. Dating in So-Cal, there's a lot of background noise. Everyone is faking something, so you never know what's real and what's not. So just go and get rejected. Eventually you'll find a genuine one.

This is also why I multidate, because you never know what they're about.

Darren's photos:

Not sure which agency you shoot for, but I don't think anyone on the east coast would hire you. Sorry bro.

Well. That was ****ty of you.

Was this a deliberate trick? The links didn't show anything but a blank page for me.

The poster decided to take the pictures off my album and post them here, without my consent. There's a reason I put them in a private album and not in this thread.
