I believe in Jesus but I don’t believe in religion and I found many teachers out there that show we have a soul!

 

I don’t want to force anyone into anything but since I’m new here I would like to give you a piece of me and that's by showing you why I’ve come to this conclusion!

 

Here are my top 5 people who you should look into and please I’m not here to force you just here to say give this a try!

There's so much bull**** in the bible, that I'm not even sure if Jesus existed. And even if he did, I certainly don't belive he is the son of a fictional character or that he could walk on water.

 

The only way I could know that there was such a thing as Jesus, would be for me to see him in person and for him to provide me with some ID, like a birth certificate.

Lol. I have never heard this. Even people who don't follow any of the Abrahamic religions acknowledge that Jesus was alive at one point.

Because religion has nothing to do with believing in Jesus. You can believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and never step foot into a church. It's not about religion, it's about where your heart is.

There almost certainly were thousands of men named Jesus in Palestine at the time. Hundreds likely had mothers named Mary. And none likely performed miracles. Just saying, magic defies the laws of physics.

 

So saying Jesus existed, is much like saying Mike exists...

Who cares?

 

The man in the stories was likely a combination of hundreds of other stories, like Luke Skywalker is the hero of legend and inspired by Joseph Campbell's "hero".

 

Modern historians are split between accepting Jesus as a true historical figure and accepting the fact that there is absolutely no contemporary historical evidence for "his" existence. Often for the sake of avoiding argument, they may accept that Jesus was a dude. Sure he was. And Mike exists. Haha.

I believe in Jesus too, but the people you have listed, I think they have different beliefs than I do, including beliefs concerning Jesus.

 

Top 5 people that have inspired me in my beliefs are the following:they can be googled for any websites about them.)

 

Corrie ten Boom - survivor of a Nazi concentration camp, put in there for helping Jewish people escape

 

Mother Theresa - helped the poor, the dying, the people who didn't have anybody helping them. She didn't try to convert people; rather she showed them the love of God.

 

Clara Barton - nurse who helped wounded people... is crucial in the organization of the American Red Cross

 

Gary Haugen - a lawyer who rescues slaves, victims of trafficking, and helps the poor and those suffering injustice around the world

 

Patrick Atkinson - helps the poor.

 

Jesus' teachings focus on actively loving God and people. Helping the poor is a very important part of Jesus' teachings, and the people above gave (or give, for those who are currently alive.) much of their lives doing so.

 

Anyone of any belief who gives of themselves to help the poor/those in need are following this important part of Jesus' teachings, whether they know it or not.

Maybe it is my age but I am ok with the term 'being religious' nowadays. I think I have finally exhausted the possibilities I previously thought I could see in others. This has taken some years to feel ok with.

 

I now kind of see it as religion as being something people enter into in a hope of aquiring an aspect of Godliness, much muchly defined by their own psychological bias. Then I see 'The Calling', which in my mind involves a receiving of evidence of God. In the latter case religion is but a guide.. so saying literal explanations can provide comfort and direction to explain aspects of their calling.

 

That's my filter when looking at those who present their beliefs and experiences and I enjoy hearing, reading and discussing their experiences.

jesus is a man made religion stuff, there is no scientific historical unbiased evidence of his existence at all.

I might point out that there is a general tradition in Christianity since late antiquity that was anti-religion - more spiritualist than anything. From the desert fathers in 150CE to the modern monastic hermits, there exist branches in every world religion where mysticism holds ground.

 

One can have spiritual beliefs that are aligned with the teachings of individual religions without a desire to participate in religious tradition. There will always be splinter groups or individuals who follow any spiritual path without going to churches or temples or mosques or coven circles or religious festivals.

 

Just ensure that if you do find a group, it is one that will foster your spiritual life rather than misdirect it in a way as to cause you harm.

Why do Christians insist that Christianity is not a religion? It clearly is and even James in the bible insists it is:

 

Jam 1:26 & 27: If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

 

Christianiy is full of religious practises and rituals, that most Christians indulge in. In fact, many of these practises are considered a must for any “true Christian”. Here’s a list of religious rituals that Christians indulge in, some of which are done daily:

 

  • Baptism
  • Communion
  • Raising hands to God
  • Attending Church on a particular day every week
  • Singing together as a congregation
  • Prayer (especially at particular times like before meals and before bedtime, much like Muslims might face Mecca and pray. Very ritualistic.)
  • Religious daily reading of the bible
  • Speaking in tongues
  • Annointing with oil
  • Casting out of demons

This is just a handful of religious rituals that is rife within Christianity. So if you are practising even one of these you are quite clearly practising religion. To say otherwise is, as I have shown with the scripture from James, a contradiction to what the bible says.
