Eve
Sweet couple.. perfect celebration. :bunny: I enjoyed participating in their special day and of course had a good cry when Kate appeared in that lovely lovely dress. All the reverence made me very proud to be British.. Take care, Eve x
Ross MwcFan
I'm really surprised that we've been allowed to have all those Union Jacks up.
ALonerAgain
They just said on TV it's 1,000 years old. Sends chills up & down my spine. I agree with your feelings about the wedding. It's created a nice vibe around here today. I've encountered the occasional person who resents the attention that's been given to the wedding...but gloom, doom, conflict and unhappy news gets its share of attention in the media. It's nice to have a day when all of that is temporarily put aside. Man, I was there! Got out of the flat around 7.30 and walked through the crowds past the Abbey and St. James' Park and ended up watching the whole thing live in Trafalgar Square. The atmosphere was electric. And Taramere, I completely agree that the vibe is amazing here. And I guess it is the 'fairytale' aura that most people love. I think she's a very different kind of person...and, of course, it's a totally different type of relationship. They're a genuine couple - relaxed in eachothers company, exchanging glances and jokes etc. I couldn't agree more. They've been together since uni, so hopefully they have already learnt to grow together. As an aside, it was hilarious when the procession of minibuses carrying all the minor royals appeared. Lol. Yeah. Absolute classic!
Taramere
Lol. Yeah. Absolute classic! I boobed with the phrase "minor Royals". By minor Royals I did of course mean the British Royal family members who are much further down the list in terms of being in line to the throne. I didn't mean the Royals from other countries who also travelled to the Cathedral in minibuses. I'm really surprised that we've been allowed to have all those Union Jacks up. Well, that's traditional at Royal Weddings. There were also people waving the Saltire and the Welsh flag...and I saw some flags from other countries too. There's nothing unpleasantly nationalistic about it. It's just a way of either saying "it's a happy day for our country" or passing on goodwill from another country.

But you know how PC this country is now. What with not wanting to offend the minorities, showing them favouritism and bending over backwards for them.

TaraMaiden
I mean I had far more important things to do than watching some pre-divorcees having a field day in London. Is what I meant. *Yawn*..... Sky had an article on "Previous Royal Weddings"... Prince Andrew, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Princess Margaret...... I looked at them, and thought - "Divorced....divorced.....divorced - twice.... divorced...." I give it 5 years max.
westernxer
Regarding the wedding... it is what it is. I was stuck watching the rebroadcast in the doctor's office lobby for nearly an hour this morning, as the doctor was short on staff. That's all I'm gonna say, but I wish the princely couple a long and happy marriage, not that they'll ever receive my message, of course. LOL

TaraMaiden
Yeah, people do that. We're both intelligent, strong, self-assured, confident, dignified, articulate British women. It's a gift. There, the similarities end.... ....She's a bona-fide legal-Eagle....Me? I'm just a barrack-room lawyer. But we shine.....

TaraMaiden
long Life? Hopefully. It is best to think so.... William AND Catherine? Who knows? All I know is that the odds aren't favourable..... But maybe I'm just a cynic......

TaraMaiden
Oh, I think with experience, and hindsight, the odds are a whole lot better... Charles is still with Camilla, huh? Yes, I think maturity has a lot to do with it......

anne1707
Taramaiden - I agree. Especially if you know the relationship has been tested and you still want all in. It's not how you deal with the good times, it's how you deal with the bad that counts.
TaraMaiden
They just said on TV it's 1,000 years old. Sends chills up & down my spine. Actually, it was first founded in 624AD as a monastery, and then built on. So it's a bit older than that.
Ross MwcFan
I suppose the world needs a little treat like this, especially now. It's just strange they get so much attention merely just being born into royalty. It's not like he done anything special, but his mom is Diana....whom I really liked. The fact that he seems so well rounded after what he's been through, like his mum and dad splitting up, and then his mum died. And the fact that he's been serving in the Royal Airforce, and has been doing search and rescue, seems pretty cool and commendable to me. As for Kate, I don't know nothing about her. TaraMaiden
Ooooh, she's got real working-class northern roots. A true "commoner" if ever there was one..... Did you not see the documentary about her? Mining stock, and ancestors working in the cotton mills.... 'Eeh-by-gum' 'On Ilkley Moor bah't hat' types of folks....
alphamale
I just wish both of them long lives filled with love & happiness... hoping & praying they'll get a better shot at it than Wills' parents did. i'll give them 10 years before they split up

What with not wanting to offend the minorities, showing them favouritism and bending over backwards for them. Do you mean Muslims? I know that Anjem Choudary's extremist gang are against traditional British institutions and were talking about disrupting the wedding, but that got cancelled. I think for the most part, he just likes to troll. People from a variety of religious backgrounds were invited to, and attended, the wedding. The oldest Mosque in the UK held a big party to celebrate it, and here's a news item about some preparations for a street party. Note the presence of a Union Jack. http://menmedia.co.uk/asiannews/news/s/1419181_north-west-muslims-get-ready-to-celebrate-royal-wedding
