Well, I explained in another post:

I met him in August 2004, but we actually hitched up in that October.

However, he maintains that he knew almost immediately that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, and 2 weeks into getting together, he bought me a ring.

he'd never thought of buying his exes a ring.

Now here we are in 2011, and we're finally able to put our money where our mouth is!

Never having had any money up to now, it's been a hard and laborious 7 years, with 4 of those so fraught with ups and downs, at times I didn't know whether I could stay sane long enough to see it through.

Loads of times I felt like bringing things to an end, and halting the entire process, but something stopped me.

There's always been that glimmer telling me, 'hang in there, this is worth it'.

Not everybody gets that chance, and not everybody's glimmer is genuine....

But when it is, the reward is priceless.

At 54, I'm setting off on a new journey.

Glad to be here to tell you all about it, and have you guys share in my happiness.

I've received PMs from folks here too, and I thank everyone both for the public good wishes, and the private positive sentiments.

With much love, from a Lucky and happy lady! *thumbsup*!! :bunny:

You met in 2004? Are you sure you're not rushing into this?

:D

Seriously!

Thank you for the summary of the loving journey that led you to this very happy moment in your life. I hope your wedding day rocks your world, as you make one of life's greatest commitments to love, honor and cherish.

Best wishes!

yeah...2004...took our time....

Ironic then, that the ceremony is a 7-minute wonder!!

'Mr Maiden' is insistent that we do something "bigger and better" a little later in the year.

So while the wedding itself is going to be low-key....

(low-key? heck, it's so 'low key' it's under the mat!! :D)

....we shall push the boat out a little later.....

Congrats. May your lives be comfortable, loving and full of deep belly laughs. I'm so happy for you.

The 24th is a good date. I'm due the 23rd and can't believe baby is still a hold out. Maybe she'll come the 24th.

If the chocolate wrapper had nut-chocolate - that will suit me down to the ground!!

We'll do our best, dot....

I'm severely handicapped in that I aim to sleep with one man only, and he's not super-rich so it's not about the money - but I will rise to any challenge!!

I've been making wedding roses from paper for a cousin's wedding all week. I'm all wedding'd out...... My SO is very nervous about the wedding arrangements laying about. I'm so random and off topic these days. It's the baby sucking my brain out. Sorry.

Do you have a special place you will be doing the wedding or are you going to the courthouse? Big family gathering or just a few friends?

I find babies do that, long after we've had them. The job then reverts to the husband.

The only cure is to find them a pastime that distracts them long enough to stop them transforming into irritating delinquents....Like mowing the lawn.....or doing a crossword...

I like to give my partner this week's 'Times' crossword. But I give him last week's clues.

It keeps him occupied for hours.

Here in the UK we have local-Government-run Registry offices, and officially- appointed Registrars. They're not JoPs and have no legal power or authority other than to register and officiate at marriages.

The marriages have to be completely non-religious.

Just we 2, and a couple of witnesses, but we're all going to a local restaurant for a nice meal afterwards.

My partner's known his Best Man since they were both in their late teens, so they go back a long way.

In fact, I think his BM has been his BM at both his previous weddings!!

Still, third time lucky!!
