Little Red Hen
Hi everyone. I graduated summa cum laude in December with a bachelor's in theatre. I'm currently enrolled in a post-bac teaching program. I intended to teach drama, but those jobs are hard to come by. I'm switching to elementary education. Last semester I put in 25 hours observing/tutoring at a middle school. I can say after my experience, that I really don't feel confident enough to discipline a room full of kids. Maybe it would be different if I had known the kids since the start of the school year? Also, I am in Phoenix, Arizona where our education system is horrible. We have large classrooms and lots of students who don't speak English. I wonder if teaching is any better in other states? Or in rural areas? I should also mention that I am in my late forties and somewhat introverted. I don't think I'm cut out to be a teacher. Any advice? Thanks.
