average guy
Eric Clapton is God!
dyermaker
Clapton never lets himself go, he won't venture out of his 'comfort zone'--Have you seen the ARMS concerts?
average guy
No, I've never heard of the ARMS. Is it a band, or one of Eric's concerts? I only wrote that because it used to be scrawled everyweher in London years ago. I perosnally prefer Jeff Beck, but I never saw any "Jeff is God" graffiti!
dyermaker
Oh, you need to get some video/audio from ARMS, it was four concerts in 1983 (two in new york, two in san francisco) with Jimmy Page (my God ), Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck all playing together. Jeff Beck, at least on the show I have full video of, is on fire. Eric Clapton is 'comfortable', and Jimmy Page is alright, but he never quite reached what he was from 1968-1973. Chronic heroin use and a persistent finger injury took it's toll--he relied too heavily on the 'bend-flubbing' technique that made Hendrix famous.
average guy
Speaking of which, do you know why Jeff didn't make any albums for so long (before the last 3)? I've heard rumours that it was alchohol, herion, or a bad recording contract that he didn't want to honor but couldn't get out of so he stayed silent for the durtaion (5 years?) of the contract. Any further gossip would be greatly appreciated
