My father had his removed a couple of years ago, he lost a lot of weight in hospital though, his gallbladder was black when they removed it.

You remove the gallbladder, your body will have to metabolise fat differently. Obviously in a negative way for many people. As such, your approach to the food you eat should change, adapt to what your body requires. It's the same for any other person trying to maintain their weight/tone etc.

My mother cured herself of her own gallstones. She passed over 40, on her own, with no surgical intervention.

Although she now has to watch her diet closely, she still has her own gallbladder and the admiration of her surgeon.

let me know, if you want to know how.

hi i know you can do flushes but its not a cure, as there bound to come back. My gallbladder is thickened and if i dont have it out the surgeon said there would be problems in the future so its the best option for me. To be honest they have caused me nothing but pain so im really happy im having it out. thanks though

That's ok. You do what you're convinced is best for you.

It's your body.

Glad to help if you need it, although I'm sure they will give you dietary advice, and help you recover healthily.

good luck, hope all goes well for you.

:)

  • 2 weeks later...

I had mine out in 2006. I never gained a pound. They took mine out though my belly botton. It doesn't even look like I had surgery done. Just watch out for fatty foods like hamburgers and stuff like that they go right though you lol. I have no regrets getting mine removed.

Tara, if you could PM me with your ideas, I'd be appreciative. I was scheduled to have surgery this year but wish to avoid it at this time if at all possible. I found, for myself, beyond the obvious stuff like limiting fats and cholesterol, that cutting out coffee and caffeinated drinks, including some teas, has helped a lot. Odd, but true. Another odd dietary change which has helped: Eliminating yeast. Sadly, no more traditional pizzas. Man, I miss those :(

OP, everyone I know who has had the surgery said it was a non-issue. Other than minor changes in digestive operations, along with the obvious lack of gall bladder attacks, it was like they had never had the surgery. Their dietary changes, if anything, contributed to weight loss rather than gain, mainly from eating healthier if they had not done so before.

Best wishes for a successful outcome :)

I have some problems with acid reflux and diarrhea after eating after the surgery doctor has prescribed some refrained to eat .
