quietGuy13
I'm old(31) but i'm a bit mentally retarded and so i'm like a kid, but i realize it and i dont want to be like this anymore. I live with parents now and they have a house. I help with rent. well i pay like 500 a month to my parents. just to help out. Plus i do lots to help them. But i understand if i want to move out to a room in another place, rents are not that easy. I think rentin a room can go 800 and up. I was looking in craigslist. Anyways, I'm gonna do that cause i need independence( Even though it'll be hard cause my parents controll me ) and i need to get out of my parents if i want to do anything formyself. Thing is currently i have: -a car, which was like 30000 dollars and i still owe about 10000 -i have TV, internet and cellphone( i don't really pay for it) -we have laundry machine and drier -BTW i have a student loan of 20000 dollars. -I do alot of hobbies in the computer THUS i guess i use alot of electricity. I'm sure i can give up some of that and go out to the laundry place or something, and then i can live without cooking or with a microwavee or something. I would be willing to do more Book reading and art or something as hobbies instead of wasting alot of electricity. For me that's no problem But as for the Car, do i have to give that up? i don't even drive that much. MOstly just for work and going out(in town)to downtown. But if it was me, i'd just go in the bus. The reason i got a car is cause my parents forced me(yeah it's true). Sure it's useful, but if i can't afford, why would i want it. *** So how do i start moving out. I have a bit of money saved already. Is it better to find places where you share the rent with someone OR find single rooms (800 or 900 rent) AND how does it work for sharing the rent? Do you have to like the people or be friends with them?
LeaningIntoTheMuse
Have you tried looking for a roommate? If you find someone who's looking to share an apartment, and can split the cost, that's $400 per month, plus utilities, cable, and laundry. Not such a bad deal. And there are apartments that run for under $500, if you want to live alone. The apartment I just moved out of was one of those.
