marriagesucks
Hi everyone. I have a few questions about my weight and physical appearance. Back in May of last year, my husband and I had a baby, we also started having lots of problems at that time (which we still have). I am the type of person that can only deal with so much stress at one time. I have no control over what my reaction will be. Sometimes my hair falls out, which is why I keep it braided now. But since last May, I have been loosing weight. I was loosing weight slowly at first and it wasnt so noticable. But then I did the unthinkable (2 times in a row, i cheated in November and December). This caused both of us lots of stress and within 2 weeks I lost 10 pounds. My normal weight is 125 pounds, now I weave between 110 and 105 just about every 2 weeks. My self esteem has lowered because of this. Not to metion, since I had my daughter, my breast are half the size they used to be. (I used to be a 34B) My breast used to be my favorite part of my body. So that also helped lower myself esteem. So now that you know my situation. My question is, do you know of any quick and safe ways that I can gain weight. I already know that the only way to get my breast back is to get implants. I would rather have them natrual. Hopefully gaining weight will help my breast get bigger. Oh, and I guess its important to let you know that I have high metabolism and I exercise a lot. I'm sure they both play a factor in my gaining weight. I have a tiny stomach also, and if I eat too much I feel like I have to vomit. No, I dont have an eating disorder.
moimeme
If your cholesterol is fine and you have no other health issues that would contraindicate it, then just eat high-calorie foods. A couple cups of ice cream a day can certainly pack on the pounds. Check out a calorie chart and eat the stuff that has the most calories.
reasontosigh
You might want to cut back just a bit on the exercise. The tone of the post seems to say to me you probably do way more than the norm. Plan a workout that is enough to maintain what you have already in terms of fitness. I have a naturally high metabolism, so I can certainly sympathize. Sometimes I feel like I've burned off a lot just by opening my eyes in the morning!

reasontosigh
Ah, I see. That does explain that part of it. But at least it was an attempt where (hopefully) you had nothing to lose by trying.

There are all sorts of information on line about the thyroid. Yes, it can get swollen. I don't want to mislead you with symptoms, because I don't know what they are. Last year, they suspected I had a thyroid problem, and the doctor said my thyroid did feel swollen. My tests came back negative. I'll look for a good website....
Fedup&givingup
http://health.allrefer.com/health/hyperthyroidism-symptoms.html here's one that I found. I'm not sure how many of the symptoms you'd have to have, but if I were you, I would go see the doctor anyway. Weight gain/loss isn't good.

reasontosigh
Silly me. Here I'm thinking you already had yours checked... "Oh, and I guess its important to let you know that I have high metabolism " That sort of led me to believe you did. I apologize. When I was 20, my doctor had mine checked because he was worried about my weight being constantly low. I had moved away and my doctor asked me about that when I was 40 so I explained that it had already been checked and had come back normal. He had it checked again anyway. Came back normal again. Had it come back that it was overactive, they would have put me on medication to correct it. Fed is right - there are a number of conditions related to the thyroid gland. She'll probably have the link up already before I even finish this post!
reasontosigh
Drat....slow as molasses again! Well I'm glad you got some questions answered. Like Fed said, get it checked out to be sure. And do let us know what happens! Good luck!

Weight gain/loss isn't good. i got the same site, then i googled 'symptoms gastrointestinal disorder' and some of the symptoms there suprised me, the most noticable ones to me were personality changes (stress can do the same thing i believe, and im under a lot of it right now) and also muscle spasms. are muscle spasma where your body liek twiches or jumps for no reason?? if so, my body was doing this friday at work. i got aggravated because i didnt know why it was happening. hopefully everything is alright with me, ive never been the type to go to the doctor for every little thing. but since medical is free right now, i should make the best of it i guess. Fedup&givingup
Yes, when you twitch, your muscles are contracting. I would definitely be getting checked out.
freebird
Marriage, Your symptoms SOUND to me like you may have hyperthyrodism...it's kind of common. Rapid weight loss, hair loss, all that - and stress just adds to it - any way, my suggestion would be to go to a General Internist who can then refer you to an Endocrinologist - they specialize in metabolism - again is called Hyperthyrodism. Hope that helps...just go to the doctor - it's better to know than guess.
spencer
I was diagnosed november 2002 with HYPO-throidism. it took me till august 2003 to get it back to normal. i too, was losing weight, and my hair was falling out. my eyesight, and my hearing got much worse, and i couldn't remember things. my TSH was soo bad, a 96,the Dr. said he cant believe i could get out of bed, let alone function. i was cold all the time and needed to sleep atleast 12 hrs a day. no one thought to test me because i was below average weight, with only 12.9 body fat. what a huge myth. well i couldn't eat anything that wasn't organic, because it made me sick. i lived on salad, fish, and beans for years. i suffered for probably 7years with this. i is a simple blood test, most women get this after having kids, though i don't have any. yes im happy to say i have gained weight. now if i could only get MY BOOBS to shrink, from a 32D to a nice B cup, Id be happy. freebird
How weird that you had HYPO-thyrodism and lost weigt - it's usually Hyperthyrodism that makes on lose weight - a friend of mine had hypothyrodism and her metabolism was at a standstill and she gained a huge amount of weight. Just curious your doctor diagnosed you with hypo rather than hyper. Not to argue here, but my neighbor happens to be an endocrinologist specializing in thyroid disorders. Not to argue here, but my neighbor happens to be an endocrinologist specializing in thyroid disorders. yup this is what most of the population thinks. nope im not Hyper, definately Hypo. blood tested by GP twice due to disbelief. furthur tested by a endocronologist, yup hypo still. my TSH was a '96'. normal TSH is between 1 & 5. hyper is below 0.5. hypo is over 5. (usually, depending on the lab) thats the myth, hypo's cant lose weight, they just gain. not always true, im trying to prevent people from thinking they cant be hypo because weight loss seems inconsistant with the disease. freebird
Wow Spencer - how incredible! THanks for sharing, learn something new everyday!! Hope you are doing well despite of that TSH number - geez! You must be a walking miracle! You seem to have a wonderful attitude toward it and that probably helps you I assume - hows your energy? My friend is hypo and she has no energy at times, it's hard to see her struggle with the fatigue - however, I think shes on meds now which seemed to be helping her! Good luck to you
sweetmind20
hello marriage sucks, i actually have the same problem with my weight. i fluctuate constantly. sometimes i'm 105, other times i'm 108. i,too, feel like i've lost this weight over stress. and it is all the more stressful when you have no control over your weight.. it made me feel like less of a woman when i started losing my chest over this. but when i a woman loses weight, naturally she will lose size in her bust because breasts are mainly composed of fat tissue. if you don't have much fat, you aren't gonna be too big. but there is hope. if you do gain the weight back, your breasts will be become fuller. that is the what happens when you introduce fat back into your diet. i don't know exactly how big, but they do get bigger when you gain weight, so you can throw away the implant idea. what i would say about exercising is to keep it moderate. you are never going to gain weight if you keep burning it off. if you eat plenty of carbs and really make an effort to eat.. even if you feel like crap, you eat.. you will see results. but you have to be consistant. also, once you get used to eating regularly again, the actual size of your stomach will expand, so you will be able to eat more without getting full so fast. if you eat and do strength training.. that will maintain a good shape, but not burn it off. anyways, i hope this helps. i do know what i'm talking about cuz i'm living with a similar matter. and i've done a lot of research on this. oh, before i forget.. aside from the physical things you have to do to gain weight, it might be helpful to work at resolving the issues surrounding this weight loss in the first place. take care.
