yes
i think it's time to elaborate on why some people get addicted to misery, or just enjoy it. clearly this happens to some, - i know it's happened to me. i'll start the list of possible reason, plz jump in and continue or elaborate or both. 1) because existing misery is familiar, and change is always a risk 2) because of the association of madness/genius - being miserable puts you in the same bucket as many great ppl 3) it's a way of getting attention from those around you 4) it's a place from which one can go up, improve, etc - i.e. there's lots to look fwd to (from a deep well, the sun looks more enticing than from an open field) 5) some don't believe in the possibility of not being miserable (happy people are just good actors), so might as well stay openly miserable 6) people from dysfunctional homes filled with misery simply don't know how to live otherwise, and are attached to misery because it's associated with parents, childhood, etc - things precious even if painful That's all I can think of right now. -yes
Darkangelism
Yes I agree with that list, and do most of those.
brashgal
There can be a kind of beauty in sadness (who said that?) but you have to be careful not to let it sweep you away. This is especially true of those who can't stop sinking into the depths, once you are near the bottom it takes a long time to crawl out. I'd rather make people laugh. I'd rather surprise them by doing something silly. Depression just gets to be so wicked boring.
Arabess
It DOES seem as though some people seem to recreate their misery over and over. It can be financial, in love or any other area. I'm sure most of the reasons, if not all, are in your list. I hope it gives everyone a chance to reflect....as it did me. THANKS!
