Holding Hands- When is it ok?

So, I was talking to my coworker about the 2nd date with this guy. I thought about grabbing his hand throughout this second date, but thought it might be weird since we haven't kissed yet.

My coworker said next date I should take his hand. I thought maybe I should wait for a kiss before that is initiated.

Guys and Gals, is it weird to hold hands if you haven't kissed yet? My coworker/friend thinks maybe he is waiting for me to make a move first. Take his hand or wait for a kiss first?

My boyfriend grabbed my hand on the second date. And we kissed on the third. I like that order very much.

Holding hands before the first kiss sounds good to me.

Take his hand... and set it up for the kiss :)

Thanks, thought it might lead to that if I do :-) Not in any rush to kiss (although I want to :D ) Just wanted to make sure it wasn't too forward too soon since couples usually hold hands. I'll do it next time ;-)

Nice, good to know that was initiated before the kiss, now I won't feel stupid going in for it first, thanks :-)

Reach for his hand Country Girl. It's a very sweet gesture.

Good to know, was worried maybe he would think I was staking a claim :-)

I don't know. Sounds a little risky to me. You know what that kind of thing can lead to.

Fornication. You don't want to be a fornicator, do you?

Lol, no he's not like that, neither am I. I'm taking things slow, and I know he is too. But I do have to say, I have read some of your sarcastic posts on the forums and they make me lol. You're a funny guy :p.

It's almost always been a policy for me that when involved in "typical" dating, that if I like the girl I will hold her hand before we have a first kiss.

I think now I'm less strict about that. I just feel the situation out to see what feels appropriate. I would say that if I'm feeling a deeper emotional connection I'll probably hold her hand first. If she's someone that I'm dating, and there isn't that deep connection that makes you feel that that it might escalate to the next level, likely a kiss first.

I don't know if that really makes sense.

But if you like him, and there's a third date go for his hand. He's likely a nice guy if he hasn't tried to kiss you yet, and likes you enough to go on a third date.

Actually, to think of it. My ex-girlfriend (who was my most significant relationship to this point) was the one to initiate holding hands. I wanted to hold hers and I was really nervous and hesitating while I was walking beside her and she just reached out and BAAM! It was great. First girl to have the go ahead to not make me initiate all the "firsts". Loved her for it.

No, that makes perfect sense. I know we are on the same page emotionally, I kind of got the feeling he wanted to hold my hand but I am so lost being out of the dating world for so long.

I want to show interest, but not seem like I am staking my claim.

I'd like to hold his hand, just wanted to make sure it wasn't too soon, I don't want to scare him off by doing it, if that makes sense.

Don't plan every move! Then it is no fun. Just do it if you want to and then he will reciprocate or not and you will get your answer.

From previous experience I would say they is no set time or date when it is right or wrong to hold hands it should just come natural, for heavens sake some people have sex first date and have perfectly fine relationships some wait 6 months to even just a share the first kiss with eachother in honesty it varies for every dating couple.

My guy grabbed my hand during the movie we went to on our 2nd date. Then at the end of the date was The Kiss.

I thought that was a nice order to things. :)
