How do I hold a friendship if I'm always unhappy? :(

Recommended Posts

Alright, so I have a wonderful boyfriend who does everything for me, I have a good family, good friends, I have a car, I have good grades, I graduate from high school in two weeks, yet I always am unhappy for some reason. I always try to be happy and enjoy things, but I just can't. For example, prom was last night and I couldn't even fully enjoy it because something is just wrong with me... I don't know what it is or how I can fix it. I do have a lot of self image problems. I am self conscious and I don't like my body and I don't really love myself. How can I fix this? I want to see a therapist and see if that will help.. Please give advice if you have any!

I read your posts in the other forums but decided to respond here as well.

See someone as soon as you can. Why suffer? You're on the cusp of another chapter of your life so go into it feeling healthy.

Do you know how to find a reliable therapist?

You may suffer from depression, a condition where low levels of Seratonin in the brain slow down your synapsus--like a computer than runs sluggish. A psychatrist (not a counsellor) can prescribe medication for it. It's nothing to be ashamed of--just a medical condition. Read up on it.

Where can I find a reliable therapist? Also one who takes my insurance...

And as for the depression, I was thinking that as well. I was looking up an antidepressant "bupropion" and I was interested in it because it doesn't mess up your sex drive, and mine is already low. Does anyone know anything about bupropion?
