Stop Looking For The Clown...

Recommended Posts

A man found himself in the middle of a long hallway. In the middle of this long hallway was a solitary door. He walked up to the door and knocked on it. It was answered by a clown who proceeded to beat the life out of him.

The next day, the gentleman was in the hallway once more, and once more found his way to the door and knocked on it. Again, it was answered by the same clown and again, the clown beat him senseless.

This occurred for 4 more days - the man would be in the hallway, go to the door, knock on it, and the clown would answer the door only to beat him senseless once more.

On the 7th day, the man was once again in the hallway. He walked up to the door and knocked on it - but no one answered. So, he went looking for the clown.

Hahaha! So glad you posted it geegirl.

i think it's a great reminder that we have a choice, and because so many of us here feel so helpless, it's pretty empowering.

that, and the fact we're focusing on some creep when there could be (what am i saying, IS) better out there

I looked for the clown many times when backing off was my best bet. I was told one thing and another was happening. DO NOT GO LOOKING FOR THE CLOWN.

So glad this was bumped. Had nearly forgotten about it. Still terrified of clowns in general though haha. Maybe that's why it works for me!

Oh Ruined, you don't deserve it. No one does. Sometimes it takes a few stumbles before we learn. I went looking for the clown numerous times. One day, I stopped. I wish it didn't take me so long but hey, I'm much wiser for it.

The clown used to love me so much, but then I stepped on his foot and now he hates me. :(

And now, every time I go back there to try to make things right, he rips out my heart and puts it in a cream pie so he can throw my broken heart back in my face.

If after several tries of trying to make things right, nothing right has come out of it, why do you keep going back to try? What about the next time is going to be different?

You have to accept that it's time to throw in the towel. I don't know your story but repeated attempts at ripping your heart out and cream pie in your face is not worth it.

Yes I know you're right. But this clown haunts me in my dreams, haunts me in my thoughts 24/7 (no, I'm not exaggerating). And knowing that I hurt this clown and that in reality he now likely hates me, drives me to try and make things right with him. To sooth his foot so that he can come and find me again without having to worry about limping. :(

But you are correct. I must try never to go looking for him again. He may come looking for me though... should I answer the door if he does?

I'm trying to figure out who the clown is? Me for taking so long to move on or my ex for being a super cold, cruel 8&^&* :-)

Should you answer the door if he does come knocking?

If you like for him to rip your heart out, stuff it in a cream pie and throw it back in your face, then I think you should answer the door.

If you want to keep your heart intact, go through the discomfort of healing and soon finding your value and self esteem again, and one day enjoying a slice of cream pie while sipping coffee outside a quaint little pastry shop while having not one thought about this clown, then I think you should NOT answer the door!

I'd like you to pick the latter. It would really make you feel so much better in the long run.
