morrigan
I have read Sade (who gets rather dull), Sacher-Masoch and other books. I read music magazines such as Revolver and Metal Maniacs for the articles, but sometimes I don't mind fantasizing about the attractive men in the issues. I'm trying to imagine my boyfriend telling me how my reading of books and magazines is hurting his self esteem. It's doesn't seem to be the sexual imagery that is the threat for some people, as some guys peruse through lingerie and swimsuit catalogs, or look at an ordinary magazine with no nudity or sexual acts. It is more like a 2-D image of another person or people is placed in direct comparison with the significant other's physical appearance and sexual capabilities. It's not perceived as a shallow fantasy made and directed in one person's mind, but an active competition.
gaia
I find porn (as in films) totally uninteresting. Maybe if the guys had more body hair.... Books do it for me. My husband encourages them - it improves his sex life! BTW, "favour" is how we spell it in England. What drives me nuts is when our spelling is changed to the American eg fetus, esophagus. I like our weird and wonderful vowel combinations.
