This situation is just so disturbing to me... I feel awful for everyone involved (except Arnold). Of course I feel terrible for Maria and Arnold's children - not sure how old they are, but I believe they are grown - at least over 18. They both expressed their hurt on Twitter yesterday. I cannot imagine how humiliated Maria must be. I would want to hide in my room and not leave for weeks.

 

And the child - I feel awful the news is showing his mother. Even though they are blurring the child's face, his friends will all know who he is now that they have released his mother's picture and name. I can't imagine how it must feel for that kid to walk into school and hear the terminator jokes and whatever else kids will put him through.

 

I feel bad for the OW too - having to keep silent all these years, though it seems she was probably paid for her silence.

 

I think this is such an example of how damaging Ddays can be, and how many people are affected.

 

Do you think America will forgive Arnold and he will be able to continue with some type of movie career or do you think this will be the end of his public life? I think he will still have a career, America seems to forgive and forget when people make public apologies. But then again Maria kind of is an American sweetheart, so I don't know if people will be as forgiving when/if she speaks openly about her hurt and the hurt of her children.

I think Maria needs to kick his narcissistic ass to the curb.

 

This appears to be a pattern, not a one-time event. The longer the pattern goes on, the more unlikely they will change.

 

America will probably forgive him, but it won't forget. There's damage here.

 

I think America will see Maria in the same sympathetic light as Sandra Bullock, though. As it should be.

 

I can't comment on Arnold's OW. I do feel bad for the child, though.

 

Again, we can never know the secrets of anyone else's marriage. In many ways, Arnold & Maria's marriage was held up to the rest of us as an iconic standard. That's why its demise is getting so much publicity.

I know Maria has left him, but I don't believe she has filed for divorce. She certainly has her own money if she wants to leave, but as we all know too well, money does not fix the heartbreak and embarassment. She has to be sitting there looking back remembering when this housekeeper was pregnant, remembering when the baby was born, and wondering how she didn't know what was going on. For this woman to be in her house and around her children with all these secrets going on... the disrespect shown to her makes me so angry. And he hid all of this just for a political career so he could have the picture perfect family.

Yes, it is a bad situation for Maria and her children - for all the children involved. As for the OW, who knows. Some reports say she talked to friends about unprotected sex, pursuing Arnold, didn't tell him the baby was his until a few years later. Reports are that the finances were generous. Maybe she got what she wanted, maybe she didn't. Some of the info may not be true.

 

I expect both Maria and the children to deal with this well, from what little I have heard of them, even though it will be difficult. That may benefit Arnold publicly, but of course, it benefits the family the most if they adapt well and the children are not estranged from their father, despite his obvious failings.

Complete Narcisist! Hollywood is a different world. I wouldn't really call her the OW, I think he just dips into the help, like our forefathers did. He probably thought it was his right & I bet he has more kids lurking about.

Lucky for you that you live in your safe little world and have never been employed as a cleaner in someones house. Its perfectly possible she feared for her job and if she told who wold believe her? Apparently she was pregnant at the same time that Maria was pregnant with their 14yr old.... according to one media outlet.

Your scenario could be right, but it could have also have been just as easily used against her. She may have been poor, uneducated and not wise in the way that men of power and money use others for their pleasure and he may have taken advantage of her ignorance.
