Women, do you find beer bellies on men attractive. Yay or nay?

That article is not really a scientific study.

When i'm crazy about a guy its true that a bit of extra flab does not bother me and i personally do prefer hairy chests and guys that arent skinny minnies.

But i've never just thought i would prefer a guy with a big beer belly. I think its true that sometimes girls might end up with guys more out of shape as it makes them feel better about their own body issues but for me it's not our of pure attraction initially.

I'm currently working pretty hard at the gym and losing weight and i find the fitter i get the more confident i become about dating a fit guy.

I'm surprised by the amount of women that actually like beer bellies on guys. So I was just wondering how popular beer bellies really are.

No.. the guy does not have to have a six pack or anything, but i don't like prego bellies on guys.

or what i like to call "puppy bellies" HEHE

I don't mind them at all and like a bigger guy in general. The bigger, the warmer.

In my head, I differentiate between a bit of belly and a big old gut.

I objectively will look at a stranger with a cut midsection and think it looks good, whether I know anything about his personality or not. If I know his personality and am attracted to his overall package, I'm not bothered at all by some belly and might start to see it as part of what's attractive about him, too.

My husband has a bit of a belly and I love him and (almost) everything about him so I think it's cute as all get out. Honestly I have a hard time picturing him without it. He's got a hairy chest, broad shoulders, a lumbering walk, a bit of a belly, big strong hands--it's all part of the package that comes with his heart and mind, so it's all kinda sexy.

Anyway, SG and Ross are obviously both technically correct. Yes, the article title says women like beer bellies. However, that was pure sensationalism and not an accurate portrayal of the article body. While I wouldn't put much faith in that source, I do personally tend to steer away from men who spend more time on their styling and personal grooming than I do. Excessive, finicky preoccupation with looks is not a sexy quality to me. However, neither is a giant gut.

salty goodness

i don't find beer bellies or guts on men the least bit attractive; i'm in good shape and work very hard to stay that way so i want the same from my man.

As an avid runner I would have to say no, because it just meands he doesn't workout. That said I have friend with a parabolic belly and thin frame who's really cute.

I do the same thing, Stung.

A past bf was a former pro hockey player.

Broad shoulders, wrists as thick as my ankles, he was a big solid kid.

When he started thickening out around his belly, I found it adorable.

He always stayed athletic, kicked a$$ at football and basketball but had a hard time keeping it off there.

He hated it.

I loved it. Too cute.

Did he look like this? No.

But this? Fine with me.

I've seen guys with big beer bellies, with attractive women.

I think women tend to see the whole package, while men see how attractive she is and then goes from there. Not that women aren't visual, but they tend to rate personality higher than looks, and men rate looks higher than personality.

That's a bit how my BF looks, and doesn't bother me at all. Maybe 'cause in addition he is VERY muscular. Shoulders, arms, legs, mmmmm

The Sun is hardly a credible source, Ross. There's not even an author, just a report of survey of 5,000 women who eat ice cream bars, with the results of what they actually said extrapolated into something they didn't say. The article's TITLE says it, but the WOMEN didn't say that.

As for what is a beer belly:

Second and fourth guys have beer bellies: http://utrashed.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Beer-Belly-Beer-Gut-pic-12.jpg

First and second guys have beer bellies, not so sure about the third (he seems more like he's pushing out his pelvis to make his abdominal region stick out): http://media1.break.com/dnet/media/2010/1/45%20Beer%20Belly%20Competition.jpg

Just a fat guy (no beer belly): http://blog.itechtalk.com/wp-content/2009/03/beer-belly-3.jpg

Well yeah, you're right, I could've picked a better source. The link to The Sun's webpage was the first thing I saw on Google, so I used that.

That "article" does NOT say women prefer a beer belly. It says they do not prefer feminized men who, impliedly, are obsessed with their appearance. There is a BIG difference between a woman saying she doesn't like metros and saying she actually likes a beer belly.

I think they're referring to "big" men, and typically men with beer belly that have broad shoulders. If you've seen some wrestlers, they do have a beer gut themselves.

Huh, never heard of anyone liking them. I personally don't care, s'long as he actually ISN'T addicted to beer.

Women claim they have a theoretical attraction to guys who look a particular way but it doesn't hold up in practice.

This.

Women say they like nice guys, but they never do. Women say they like nerds, but they're attracted to jocks. And so on.

Bottom line is, you shouldn't spend your life worrying about what women like. Live your life for you. If a girl who likes you and you like in return appears, great. If not, then you shouldn't despair, because you never lost anything in the first place.

And Ross, please stop slamming your physical looks. You're a perfectly good looking guy. Your problem is your attitude.

What made me think that a lot of women actually like beer bellies in the first place, is because I've heard quite a few women say so on forums, and on TV. But, I guess this topic proves, that it must actually be really uncommon for women to like them.

It's threads like these that illustrate why SO MANY of you guys on here are TERRIBLE with women. You just don't get it. It shows by the fact that you guys keep asking the wrong questions.

Women want a guy who is comfortable in his own skin. They want a guy who gives them a sense of security, even if that sense of security involves being able to beat up any threat (i.e., Bad Boys).

What this means in relation to "beer bellies": A slovenly dude who doesn't take care of himself physically is going to have a tough time, but not impossible. Not impossible, but tough. He'll often do better than a prissy metrosexual. But both probably won't do nearly as well as a really athletic dude who takes care of himself, but just has a few extra pounds that are tough to get rid of.

Um, I was just curious about how common it was for women to like beer bellies, that's all. I know women obviously want a guy who is comfortable in his own skin, and a bit of a beer belly probably wouldn't make any difference to whether the woman likes him or not.
