Learned not to chase guys thanks to a childhood friend's mistakes

I admit it, I used to chase guys. I don't anymore. Why? Because I grew up and realized that it was the man's duty to do so not the woman's. Do you need an example of what happens to aggressive women? Here's what happens ...

I had a childhood friend who was always an aggressive woman. She got what she wanted from most guys she was with through our teenage years (high school and college). She had been with this one guy named Steve (not his real name) for many years. In the last few months they were together, she told me things had started to turn sour. They had been talking marriage, and he was/is Jewish and she was/is Catholic, even though neither were practicing. In fact, she would come at you with a battle axe if you even went so far as to say you were in church for whatever reason, such as a funeral or wedding. But, that's another story. He broke it off because of said difference, saying it would be an insult to his whole family if he participated in a Catholic wedding. She moves to Washington, DC (where he was) for a job and also in pursuit of him (although I'm sure she wouldn't admit it today). A few weeks later, the two of them have some petty tiff over her ability to cook spaghetti and they never speak again.

Part 2 : A few months after she had moved, she returned home to attend a wedding of some old neighbors of ours. She meets this guy Bob (also not his real name) who lives outside of Detroit. The next thing you know, she's flying back and forth every single weekend between DC and Detroit to see him. Six months later, she quits her job and moves in with him in Detroit. She told him that if they were no engaged to be married within six months of her living with him, she was moving back home. I was shocked to see how she was living there. She lived there with him and two other guys (one was a 60 year old man who was once Bob's legal guardian since Bob divorced his parents when he was 16 who now worked as their butler). I thought Bob was the rudest, most obnoxious guy I'd ever met, always making some comment sexual. I was also shocked to see how she had changed. He obviously wanted her to dress trashy, and she looked very trashy.

So after six months of her living with him had come and gone, she demanded the ring. She would not wait until Christmas, she said it was going to be NOW. So he gave her the ring, thinking that would placate her. No such luck. She demanded they get married. And, even though he had his misgivings, they married.

She and I fell out, but then again she had fallen out with a lot of people. Today, it's 12 years later. She's divorced and has two little kids. Happy? I doubt it very much. I'm happier that I don't have her as a friend anymore, life is calmer. And THAT, ladies, is why you don't chase guys. It has to be his decision to see you, let alone marry you. Otherwise you will end up like that gal.
