Some one help me!! I'm desperate to call her for a chat.

I know she'd love to talk but I know I won't be able to handle hearing what she's been up to.

After 8 years together are we really never going to speak again?

This is still too much to take.

After 5 months I should be able to stop thinking about her every second of the day.

This is really ****. :0(

8 years is a lot. I forget the general rule of thumb for how many months it should take to feel better, isn't it something like 1 month for every year you were together at least? So you've got 8 months to get over it. You'll talk to her again some day I'm sure but right now it is probably not a good idea.

I'm losing my mind over an ex of 10 months, so you're dealing with much more than me and being braver about it, pat yourself on the back, 8 years is a lot.

Stay strong, and let her make the first move! With that kind of history together, it's going to be tough - but just keep doing what you are doing and work on yourself and think about your future. Try to make it awesome.

If you're thinking about her 'every second of every day', you need more stuff in your life. Make that job #1.

People come and go in your life, even people you've been intimate with or married to. It's part of living, and dying. It's OK to let them go and grieve. While not a physical death, it is the death of your relationship.

If you're still thinking every second of every day, or even once every day, about her after a year, get professional help. That's my advice.
