quietGuy13
And i don't get paid or nothing. ANyways, i suck at speaking and I translate efficiently even though I suck at speaking. Sometimes i make a ton of mistakes but i stutter etc and my parents think i'm stupid and they scold me etc, when i can't know how to say it. But at the end of the day, i help them. Sometimes it feels like I'm doing a job. But it's funny that I translate and i accomplish communication BUT i would never be considered for a job in a company translating. I am not articulate enough.hehehe. THat's funny. In fact, many of the people i talk to , including foreign friends also tell me my other language is good enough and that i could work in their country( a different language from that of my parents) It seems companies VS family/friends.. they have totally diferent views on what is good enough. **** ANyways, My translating for My parents includes talking on the phone with clients, translating everything my family says and translating back to my parents. Then i also do bills and also do IN PERSON live translating. I do this everyday every week. Because i live with my family and they have this business and they don't speak english. But the thing that is annoying is that I'm way in demand and yet i feel like i'm not good enough. I suck at speaking and even though i have translated for years, i don't get good at speaking. Ouroboros
my parents think i'm stupid and they scold me etc This is what I find annoying. You do something freely for them and then they ridicule you for it. It doesn't matter how much they need you. This behavior is not acceptable among adults.
ShatteredReality
You could probably get certified to do that and get paid...by ppl who wouldn't treat you like you're stupid for doing them a favor. What language, just out of curiousity?
Author quietGuy13
Oh don't get me wrong. my parents love me but they just want it fast and they say i'm shy so they get angry. As you know, i'm slow and shy/quiet. It's spanish. and the other language i speak with my foreign friends is some asian language.
ShatteredReality
Seriously...you can do it and be paid for it...it would get you out of the house and meeting new people. I used to work for an interpreters company and my job was to book the interpreters for the folks who needed them. They were all freelance...the lawyers or Drs and whomever would call me and I would find them whoever was available. As for learning how to speak more...do you mean more like public speaking and speaking in front of people who you don't know very well? There are ways around that also...practice and methods to help battle your shyness.
