My soon-to-be ex-wife left me the day before Xmas eve. No warning, no note, & $20,000 in CC debt. I'm guessing she already had someone else lined up (don't they always?), & I think she planned on never hearing from me again, but I insisted on keeping communication open & be on good terms, despite her insistance that I'm a jerk & totally to blame 100%. Still, I don't want there to be any hate on either side.

We agreed on dissolution. (The man always gets screwed in divorce court anyway). I just got the notice from the court. Our hearing date will be on my BIRTHDAY! WTF!? Is this supposed to be my present? Is this co-incidence or could she somehow arrange this?

Maybe I should look at this as a sign--a new beginning. Still, it's kinda depressing to spend my birthday watching 9 years get flushed down the toilet. I'll have to take the day off, but i think I'd rather spend it at work! Bad enough I have no one--not even a single friend--to spend it with. I thought I was OK w/ ending it, but this just adds to the emotional turmoil.

Advice? Insights? Perspectives? I'm just not sure how to feel about this.

Advice?

Make some friends. Go to Divorce Care or counselling. Or both.

Do things you like to do.

Yes it's a present from life itself. It's the day you will stand there, leugh your ass off and say "Oh God... can you believe how blind can we be sometimes? For me to think I'd be with you 'till death do us part'. Thanks for the favor!!! Now I can actually have a great life, learn from this experience and be happy with someone else who actually respects and loves me exactly how I am".

And don't worry about the no friends part.. just take this time to focus on yourself, to become wiser, to do things that you like, to enjoy yourself as an individual so you can actually in the future, offer a lot of great thinks to the next lucky lady.
