Why is it that some men who are in loving relationships tend to look at other woman , like for instance when a couple is walking down a street and a woman walks by the man turns around to look, its something I never understood.

Because it's nature.

Does your head not snap when you see a shoe sale? ;)

Same thing happens when we see a nice pair or a great butt.

The simplest way to put it, IMO, is that it's sort of just like appreciating a work of art. The guy might love his girlfriend, but I don't think that precludes him from recognizing beauty around him.

I also think, however, that if he's going to look at other women, you also have the license to "appreciate" other men.

It's not just guys...some girls do it to. I always look at other people and I'm observant. I glance at good-looking guys and girls (I'm not bi/lesbian). I don't mind if my guy notices a good-looking woman as long as he isn't drooling and making a big deal out of it and being disrespectful to me. There's a difference... My ex and I used to talk about people's looks lol

I like the way you think. :p I think this would be a nonissue if couples were comfortable with operating this way. Some people are just more jealous than others, I suppose.

Women need to understand that a man is controlled by his heart and his penis. You can capture his heart but not his penis. :)

This is basically as nature intended since practically in the animal kingdom all of the male mammals are wired to be dogs who will stick it in anything that moves. There is even a rat species whose males will go on a sex spree to the death during mating season.

I know that car analogies never work... but...

I already own a car. It's great, it works, there's nothing wrong with it, it fulfils all my car transport needs and I'm not looking to change it even though I can afford something newer, faster, more flashy.

I still look at nice cars when they go past.

This is actually why women are evolving and becoming more and more bisexual/gay and less straight. Men aren't evolving to capture OUR hearts better and their penises are going to start suffering for it. Women need devotion and someone who doesn't think with their crotch to be happy.

My friends used to all be straight, but lately, over the years, I realized that all my friends who were straight and unhappy with men are now dating each other and I'm now the only female among my friends with a boyfriend anymore.

I can sort of understand. I get jealous of the closeness of their relationships sometimes.

Being in a relationship doesn't make either person lose their sight.

Good looking people are out there, just walking around. Both men and women are going to look at attractive examples of the opposite or same sex.

If you have confidence in your relationship and in your own attractiveness it shouldn't bother you too much.

OP, the operative thing to remember is that none of us knows what's going on in that relationship or marriage. Appearances can be deceiving. As can generalities.

Personally, I don't ogle other women when I'm in a relationship. I didn't while I was married. In retrospect, maybe those who opined I was 'abnormal' are right. Women don't respond positively to abnormal, so perhaps that's why I'm single. The bobble-headed man with the wandering penis, they recognize, accept and respond to, simply because he's predictable. Normal.

Like I said, appearances can be deceiving. Good luck.

My boyfriend, whom I am in a LDR with, tends to look at other woman sometimes too, I know he loves because he both tells me and shows me, but it does tend to upset me a little but it is human nature to be jealous.

Just because you're in a relationship doesn't mean all other women stop being hot.

But yeah, it's not really something he should do in front of you.

I have no problem with a man looking when he is alone. And even casually looking when he is with his GF. But actually turning around to look while another woman is on his arm like you decribed?

No way. That is disrespectful.

Yeah, exactly. There's a difference between looking/glancing and ogling/staring. The worst is when they do it while they're in the middle of a conversation. Very rude.

Why is it that some men who are in loving relationships tend to look at other woman , like for instance when a couple is walking down a street and a woman walks by the man turns around to look, its something I never understood.

It could be a multitude of reasons.

I mean, I could be walking down the street with my GF and see some other girl step out of a store in a tight tiny outfit with cleavage overflowing and all dolled up with hair and makeup.

Would I look? Hell yes.

Would my GF get angry? No.

WHY? Because she trusts me and knows I want her more than the other woman.

Sometimes you just can't help but look. I don't get irked if she looks at another guy. It's the trust and knowing of one another that keeps it all secure.

The people IMHO who get all angry/crazy/jealous are the ones who honestly don't trust their SO and/or seriously believe their SO would drop them in a heartbeat for the other person. Frankly, if you're in a RL where you think you'll get dumped easily...chances are you probably will and should get out.

I'll look at other women sometimes and think a top or outfit the other girl is wearing would totally rock on my GF. Fashion is a thing I like to see. Doesn't mean I want to see other women.

For me (and my GF knows this because I've told her many times), I've been through enough crazy/strange/flaky/psycho/immature women to want anyone else. So maybe I'll check out Ms Dolled-Up-Big-Tits, but in all honesty I'll likely assume that while she's hot, she also probably "costs a lot" or "causes a lot of drama".

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not the type to throw a good thing (my GF) away for someone else.

We have eyes, why deny them a look? Doesn't mean you're going to stray.

It's natural to notice attractive people, whether they are male or female. Beauty attracts attention. However that can be a quick glance or gaze and is not always sexual.

If someone is with their SO and are unapologetically displaying their interest in someone else(their body or otherwise), it's disrespectful.

It's really all about using tact and being respectful for the one you care for. :)

It reminds me of a famous quote from a noted philosopher.

Guys are douchebags and I hate them all. They don't know how to deal with women, and I feel that's why the lesbian rate is going up in this country.

Lol, yes! I remember her saying that. I love Snooki.

I agree with this. People seem to be missing the part where the OP mentions a guy turning around to look after another woman, while his gf is right there. Turning around, staring, double takes, all are uncool and immature and totally different from glancing or noticing.

I don't think it has much to do with fear of straying, at least it doesn't in my experience. It has more to do with respect and making the person you're with feel appreciated and validated.

Aren't most double takes quick glances?

If a man is doing a quick glance with his eyes alone, most people wouldn't even notice him doing it. A double-take is something noticeable, usually involving head movement, maybe even eye-widening. If the guy is really uncouth it turns into a triple-take or he turns all the way around.

Like when my nephew is walking past a store window and then notices they're having a huge candy sale.

It's cute when he does it, but it's not cute when a grown man has the same impulse control as a little child, and I think it's understandable that it would make the girlfriend he is with feel bad.

My older sister suffers from this all the time. Her husband used to look at her that way, but now he doesn't bother putting energy into making her feel special that way anymore, but he is always noticing other women left and right and he's obvious about it. It makes her feel awful and I can't blame her. She looks just as beautiful as she's always looked, btw, maybe even better than when they first met because now she works out more and has more lean muscle. When she was pregnant with my nephew her husband was especially bad, and everybody was so embarrassed for her.

As one of my friends explained it, "I may be married, but I'm not blind!"

So true.

But we never lose our ability to respect our SOs. :D

And on the other hand women have evolved?

Study shows that today more women are marrying up than at any point in recorded history. So apparently, just like female monkeys in the jungles, female humans too still seek mates based on their resources.

While males are wired to be whores and pursue quantity, females are wired to be gold diggers and pursue quality.

I fail to see how one is better than the other. They just want different things that are as bad in a way.
