theedge Posted April 22, 2004 Share Posted April 22, 2004 I have to admit, cool people sometimes appear when its least expected. Tell me what you would think about this..... I had plans last night to meet someone I know from online and agreed to pick her up at a subway station. I live in the center of down town and her the burbs and her subway was about as far from where I live and where we were going as it gets. I got off work and had about 1:30 minutes to kill before I had to leave. I decided to go to the book store and get a book. While there I saw a co-worker who was also killing time and we agreed to go for a quick drink. We get to the pub and sat down. I lit up a smoke and this girl at the table beside me asked if she could bum one, I had no problem. Her, my co-worker and myself joked for a few min and then me and my co-woker went back to shop talk. The girl beside us was it seemed trying to make ways to talk to us. So here and there we would take a momment and converse with her. My co-worker had less time to kill then me, and said she would only stay for a drink. She asked if that was cool if I was by myself for a bit, but the girl beside us said don't worry he won't be alone. I think my co-worker was detecting some flirting and opted to drink fast lol When my co-worker was leaving, she said she had to run and use a bank machine and I said I will cover it. The girl beside me thought it was sweet. So, my friend left and it was me and this girl. We hit it off great and I said I would like to keep in contact so she took my number. I told her I had to meet someone shortly and she seemed disappointed. Now her is where it gets different.....She asked me if I wanted leave and get food, but with my time frame I had to decline. She was visiting the city before leaving, but would be moving here the following week. I asked her what she was doing that evening just to make conversation and she said "Well I just got a job here but have no money yet, so nothing.". I did something I would never do, I said "Here is $20, if you promise to have fun with it." She had this expression of shear shock that a stranger would offer her money. So now instead of her taking my number only, she gave me her e-mail address, home and cell phone numbers. Said I was an amazing person and she would for sure be paying me back and hanging out sometime. She also became more flirty with things like touching my arm and getting closer to me. In the end we parted, she wrote me an I.O.U. and a heart on the paper she game with the numbers. I don't know if anything will come of this romatically, I would be open to it. To me money means nothing and $20 was worth the price to meet a really cool person and I also think it made her trust me even more. So thats my story, a bit long winded. We might meet up Friday as she said she was free. So now I ask.........Would you give a complete stranger of 45 min $20 if you felt it would work to your advantage even if in the end it might be wasted money? Link to post Share on other sites
