georgejungle
It's always been a struggle... She's 3 now and its still hard. We used to be able to dim the lights, put her in her crib and she'd sing or talk to her teddy bears then fall asleep. Since switching to a toddler bed, how do you other parents do it? She wont stay put... It's a constant stressful struggle. We try reading to her, soothing her, setting the mood, none of it works. She either needs to be extremely exhausted or we need to rock her to sleep. its been like this for 6 weeks now every single night, every single nap. its like the kid is resistant to sleep. I personally could rock her in the dark for 45 minutes to an hour (crazy i know) at night at her same bedtime and it wont phase her. She gets plenty of activity and outside time and brain activity that we are stumped. help!
Chocolat
What was the pattern between when she was in her crib until 6 weeks ago? Was it the move to the toddler bed that changed the pattern? I encourage you to get out of the whole rocking thing or you will have a child who won't sleep on her own for years.

Like a gate on her door, and maybe a spanking as a LAST resort? The gate is actually a good idea and for her safety since she is mobile.
