Lobster29
He got back from Europe and is majorly pissed at me because I didn't want to get back with him. I remembered that I still have a nice pair of Jimmy Choos at his place. I decided to e-mail him and get them back. I normally wouldn't expose myself to the trauma, but hey Jimmy Choos His response was that he threw them down his balcony as soon as he saw them. I went to search for them around his building but they are nowhere to be found What a dick What a troll. In all senses.
Star Gazer
Right, but I don't think most of the girls who like their Jimmy Choos really would say they like them BECAUSE they are expensive. I disagree. Do you think if the exact same shoe was being sold at Payless Shoe Source or Walmart that it would have the same "value"?

Crabbies
I have a pair of Gucci Shoes I will give you ! They are Nappa Silk buckle straps $ 410.00. What size are you ! They came from the Gucci Boutique. I would like to throw him off of the balcony !! Don't cry sweetie we can replace the shoes and the men !! Shoes=men, now if men compared women w/inanimate objects... Nah, doubtful many guys even know what a Jimmy Choo is. Yeah because men are stupid and have not been forced to watch that stupid SATC for the last 10 yrs. Yeah never read a paper or women's mag or have a clue about anything women do/think... (which is exactly what TV shows/movies/celebrities tell them to do/think/wear...) Do women really feel better, the more expensive the stuff they wear? One time I asked a female friend why female apparels seem to cost a lot more than male apparels and she said that if they are cheap, women won't buy them. I thought that was pretty dumb. It is... zengirl
Yeah, was interesting that "$400" kept being used as the baseline cost for JC's. Never seen a pair under $700 ($695 doesn't count, after taxes!) Guess there aren't that many shoe fanatics on LS. The only pair I ever bought (back in 2005) was a graduation present to myself, and it was $395. They were one of the cheaper ones in the store though and may have been marked down. I don't know why I had the notion I wanted them; I got tons of grad cash AND already had a good job, so they weren't charged or anything, but I totally thought it was a waste a week or two later. They are super comfortable for being heels (probably just under 4'') though, and they have held up since then. Though I'm sure you're not supposed to wear 2005 shoes in 2011. I disagree. Do you think if the exact same shoe was being sold at Payless Shoe Source or Walmart that it would have the same "value"? Yeah, I don't think you can confuse status with money. They are sometimes correlated, but they are two different things. I don't think most women think about the cost and equate that with their specialness. I think they're just like, "Oooh, these are what the SaTC girls wear!" or whatever. It's a different phenomenon. Granted, I don't buy expensive shoes. Most of my shoes come from Target or Old Navy or are vintage.
carhill
Awww where's ES? It's about 3am in Perth, so sleeping I presume. She's dreamin' of Jimmy's Choos.
sm1tten
I'd pay more for comfort or quality but I doubt most of the women I see wearing expensive shoes thought that. They thought "having these shoes says something about me." I wonder if ES's ex bf would be flattered or creeped out to know how many LS threads he's inspired.

Ahh, nice! $395 is definitely a ton of money for shoes [excluding boots, imo] but for a classic style/brand, that's comfortable and that's held up over time, you got a great deal! In 2005 I was broke as a joke (still in undergrad) so it never occurred to me to even attempt to buy anything that extravagant back then, including check out the cost. It's insane how dramatically fashion prices have increased over the last few years!
Citizen Erased
I should point out that designer clothes and shoes are far more expensive in OZ than the US. Unless she ordered them online, those shoes would be ridiculously expensive. More so than even the 700 that someone threw around. Or at least they are in Sydney and Melbourne. I doubt he threw them anywhere, guys aren't completely dumb when it comes to designers. The next girl he has will probably be wearing them.
OliveOyl
If it were not for this thread, I would have thought Jimmy Choo's was a place to get excellent Chinese food. I'm not a shoe person, I only have about 8 pairs TOTAL and totally wear them out.
