katebronte
I've known the guy for years but we went on our first date. He set it up as a museum thing in the evening and like an idiot I got a bit lost, but once we got into the museum he hugged to greet me and we started making each other laugh; we weren't really into the paintings. My trips to art galleries and museums and usually either very serious or completely ironic - and this was the latter. Still, we decided to leave and then go to a pub. He bought me a drink but had a non-alcoholic one himself, which I found very courteous because he's quite a heavy drinker and has had issues with it in the past. After the first round I switched to soft drinks with him and we stayed in the pub for a couple of hours. It was pretty loud and he was extremely gentlemanly, opening doors and offering chairs and such and as the evening progressed we ended up sitting close so we could hear one another with leg brushing and that kind of casual body contact. He's always been able to make me laugh but he had me in stitches tonight and there were only a few almost awkward silences. When we left we got on the same train but he got off before me and we were still chattering away on the train, almost sad and surprised that his stop came so soon. He intimated something along of the lines of me having his number and vice versa and we both hinted that it would be nice to meet up again soon. We know that we're both super busy in the near future but I think that I'd really want to see him again, because it's been acknowledged by mutual friends that we have potential for being a great long term couple. Do you guys think this went well? I'll probably analyse it with some of our mutual friends to get their opinion, but I don't really date very much and find it hard to gauge whether there's something there or not. Thanks!
