I need a new job as soon as possible!

Recommended Posts

I am having no luck with job hunting. I am desperate and frustrated. I'm about ready to give up hope, but I have to find something as I can't take the stress from my current job any longer.

The pay is crap and the stress is making me sick. I only keep the job because it's something and it pays the bills. My co-workers and I are on pins and needles everyday because the job isn't stable and we never know when management is going to let us go. They are so picky and always finding something wrong with our work. We could all be out of a job anyway come December...maybe even earlier than that if the company is not able to keep the contract which isn't looking good right now. The past few days I have been having chest pains and I know it's from the stress. People at work have been calling out sick because they just can't take it. They are letting people go left and right and we are all scared we will be next.

Time is running out for me to find another job because if the company isn't able to keep the contract, I will be out of a job in just a few short months or perhaps even sooner. Even if by some miracle I am able to keep this job, I can't keep this up. I dread going to work everyday and get knots in my stomach every morning. I don't sleep well at night because I'm too busy worrying about the next day and what to expect. I can't even enjoy my weekends because I'm too busy dreading the upcoming work week. It's a never ending cycle. I don't really care for the type of work I do either, but I can stand it. It's just that upper management is so strict and they put a lot of stress on us. There is also no room for advancement. I have never dreaded a job this much before in my life.

I NEED a change so badly, but it's so damn hard to find jobs out there. I am applying just about everyday for everything I can. But not even so much as a call back or an interview yet. I'm losing hope. :(

Without trying to upset you if you have health benefits it might be worthwhile to explore other avenues to both deal with the stress and your reaction to it.

This is the new economy- you know the global one which has been talked about since the 80s? This is it, what "they" have been working for.

The job situation is not going to change at least for a decade but probably permanently as it is in a lot of people's interests to keep it the way it is. The job you move to is likely to be similar to the one you are in.

We just competed for a new contract and you know what was necessary to win? Fewer paid hours, lower pay per hour and wider responsibilities. There's not magic world in which that is less stressful than the current situation- it's going to be more challenging.

Please don't interpret this as a negative post, it's reality and as much as it may be new and challenging things are going to remain that way in our culture.
