quietGuy13
I remember when i was 12 in Jr high. We would go laps and laps for 30 minutes or something and i remember the feeling i got in my throat.. real dry and tired and sour. It was awesome. Then i would drink water and it felt great. Anyways, now that i've been damaged din my knees and recently in more limbs and spine, i haven't ran like that in 11 years. I can barely even get a 30 minute exercise workout. I only do 20 minutes a day of 10 pound hand weights and slight jumping in place(not really getting off the ground cause pounding hurts my knees) and slight slow motion boxing, ... and i've been lazy so this week i didn't even do any exercise. i did walk outside though. But anyways, i used to be a runner from age 12 and until 2000. now i'm not at all. I miss that feeling of a long distance or full speed run. But it's ok i guess. But, do you really get any extra benefits from all that running? Or is a light 20 or 30 minute exercise also help?
betterdeal
Strenuous exercise will release dopamine and noradrenaline, I believe, which is what makes you feel great. Running is problematic for anyone with knee injuries because it's high impact. Try swimming or hot or power yoga - you'll get the same rush without the high impact; stretching will help loosen up your muscles, get more nutrients in and aid the tissue repair; and the work will increase muscle tone and take pressure off your joints (you'll start using your muscles to hold you up instead of your joints). The people at yoga classes are generally really friendly too.
