wannabdone
This is odd. I know his past isn't your most pressing problem right now, but are you sure he even told you the truth about this? You say he is forty years old and he was imprisoned in 2006, so 5 years ago, for taking drugs on a plane back when he was in college. So like 10 years after he smuggled some drugs on a plane, he got caught? What in the world? How would they ever be able to prove it? Somebody told on him so the cops ran right out, arrested him, charged him and managed to prove that 10 years before he had taken something illegal on a plane with him? I'm sorry but that is pretty far fetched. Boarding a plane with drugs is something most people get caught at red handed. I've never heard of anyone being charged for that years after the fact, not even months after.I can't even imagine the police trying to press charges on that. Unless of course he was the leader of a huge drug smuggling operation and they had been trying to nail him for a long time. QUOTE] That is a good point, I didn't think of. College when you are fourty is long, long ago. (trust me I live this ). Most states with drug convictions have done away with a statue of limitations. However, smuggling something and then that many years, being busted. And being busted to the effect of what I am guesing is a felony for the time served....that is far fetched. Being 40 myself, I graduated from college almost 17 years ago. With out him being found with them on his person, there just isn't anyway that long of time passes and he gets sent down the river. But, maybe he has told you all of this and you just don't feel comfortable to share, which makes sense. but still great point!
wannabdone
You're raising some great questions! MB.... you and are always on the same page.
SoMovinOn
Seriously?? You don't think these activities involve lying and dishonesty? So drug dealers claim their profits on their tax returns? People list murder and auto theft as their hobbies when filling out job applications? Rapists always tell their victims up front that as soon as they get them alone they are going to brutally assault them (date rape)? Wow! Again... an unnecessary tangent. (just ran into the same in another thread here) ... Many crimes do not require one to lie or cheat. Others do.
SoMovinOn
I don't see what his criminal history has to do with this. But, he carried some drugs on a plane for someone back when he was in college. Years later, he was arrested after an old college buddy got in trouble and said his name. This was not a crime of dishonesty. This was someone who was a thrill seeker in college and got caught. I do not think he is a bad person for this. And he was an attorney, not a drug dealer. Not a thug. People make mistakes. Marie... that is a lie. His prison time was recent. If he didn't get caught with the drugs when he was carrying them, there is no way he got busted for it 10 or 15 years later. He wouldn't have gotten busted for it a year later. If you are retelling the story accurately, then what he told you is a lie. Ask him to tell you the truth. Then ask him why he didn't trust you enough to tell you the truth to begin with. country_gurl
Marie here claims her MM has no children........yet her 'story' is eerily similar to that of Sally who's posted recently about being 25 and having an affair of sorts with her older married boss - who HAS children. Coincidence? A lot of similarities in their stories if you read them.
Lucky_One
Lots of illegal activities require neither. -Murder -Assault -Rape -Animal Cruelty -Drug possession -Drug dealing -Auto theft ... to name a few. Sure they do. Otherwise, our prisons would be full of people who did crimes and then sprinted down the street to the local PD to turn themselves in. Ah no, man, I didn't kill that old lady that I beat up and raped while I was smoking some weed that I got out da glovebox of the Animal Control truck that I stole! It wasn't me! It was Feeling Frisky who did that!

The statute of limitations for drug FELONIES in Washington State is 3 years, for gross misdemeanors is 2 years, and for other misdemeanors it is 1 year. He has fed you some seriously dried, reconstituted, and flavored with cocoa BS.
