shoesies05
So- I'm wondering what is it like for others when they remember things they were involved in. so when you tell stories about how you used to spend a ton of time in the treehouse as a kid, or your first orgasm, or how you came home to find that the dog tore up the couch, w/e... can you see it as it happened? Do you just remember the story but can't actually see it in your head? Is it clear, blurry, etc? Do you see yourself or just your surroundings? Is it auditory and not visual? How do you remember these sorts of things? Please try and be detailed so that I can really understand/get in your head! I am just curious
Imageiko
I have a photographic memory so if I remember an event or something I'll have a picture of it in my head. The clarity varies depending on importance and how recent it was.
Forever Learning
Unfortunately I have some memory shortcomings. My best guess is that my poor memory is a mechanism I developed over the past 16 years ( I am 42 yrs old ) while in an emotionally abusive relationship. It was easiest to deal with the pain of day to day living by just forgetting as much as possible. And practice make perfect. So I began forgetting things, and I got good at it. I rely alot on pictures and written accounts of things (receipts, brochures, etc) along with the memories of friends and relatives to recall things in the past. Several of my friends know I have this shortcoming and they are happy to help me remember areas of my life I cant always recall. Thank God for them. Its a real bummer and although I am not entirely without some recollection of my life, a whole bunch lies dormant unless it is triggered by something during my day to day living or unless my friends help me out in remembering something I ask them about. Its all good though and I dont let it bring me down, I just enjoy my day to day existence and make the most of every day. I take alot of video tape and pics of my kids to document their childhood because I don't want all that happiness to be lost to me. So far, so good on that front. It's a blessing I was born in the technical age and have these things available to me to help out.
