DupedOne
Ok here is the story: I am a corrections officer. Have been for 12 years. I met my ex wife 9 years ago. she works at the same prison in the dental area. I knew she had been married before me and had a son with him. We married - had two kids. We ended up divorcing and I decided to quit claim our home to her and give her the house which she recently sold and received a nice profit. Here is my problem: Today, I am playing on the internet. I come across a record about her being married again between me and her first husband. Shocked!!! I thought I was husband number two, I turn out to be number three. So I do somemore checking, the guy she was married too, he was an inmate at the prison we work at!!! (this is a violation of work regulations to be involved with inmates.) I also find out that she had property with this man while I was married to her that I never knew about. Sheez, you think you know someone..... NEVER KNEW THIS INFORMATION ABOUT THIS OTHER MARRIAGE. I decide to go down to the marriage records dept (this is vegas and they are always open) I was told that on our license it has to be listed how many marriages. I get a copy and low and behold, it DOES say I am the third marriage!!! Surprise to me!!! Surpise to her first husband. I had no idea! Basically, had I known all this, not only would I have not married this women BUT I would have never just quit claimed our home to her. I need to know if there is any legal recourse for me. I thought for sure I would go down and get the license and it would have false information but I was shocked that it said the correct number of marriages. How that slipped by me, I'll never figure out. If anyone has any idea what I should do next, Please send it my way! Thank You! DupedOne

clia
You may have recourse if she was "hiding property." (i.e. the property she had from her first marriage, assuming it is in HER name--are you talking about a house? land?) I believe you can take her back to court to settle those assets and seek sanctions against her for hiding the property during your divorce proceeding. But again, talk to a lawyer in your state.
