Interview - what does this mean?

Recommended Posts

I had an interview last wednesday and at the end of the interview they said they would let me know by Friday or at the latest on Monday whether or no I got the job.

A close friend of mine had the same interview and they said that they would let him know by next Thursday whether or not he got the job.

How come they told us two different times? Does that mean he got the job?

Were both interviews with the same person or on the same day? Could just be wires crossed or priorities shifting. Doesn't mean either one of you got it.

Hard to say;it may be that the liked you better and are waiting a little longer on you to decide. But if either one of you were the clear front runner, they often (but not always) give you something a little less generic. This is very common as a response; it is meant to end things without confrontation if you are not a prospect-get you out of there before you figure it out-or if you are one of many potentials that don't stand out too much, they are waiting on future prospects to stand out. If not, the go over all the decent applicants in a more objective manner; so don't give up hope, but don't get too attached to this as a job. But with some, you can't tell even if you are a good prospect; they just hold their cards super close.

It doesn't mean a thing except the person doing the interviewing might be stressed and got their own wires crossed! I've interviewed so many people in the last month that I've probably done things like that.
