afraid of rejection, but it's been a while.

About 3 1/2 years ago my ex and I stopped talking. but it kind of ended is a "call me when you've decided" kind of way, but we both knew it was over. I was the one that ended it and I just wanted him to be happy. In June of 2008, a few months after the breakup, I decided to mention him just to say I was sorry about how things ended and just have him not hate me. He told me never to speak to him again.

Now, over time, I have always thought of him, but now more than ever. I saw him a few weeks back at my school and I literally froze.

I would like to still talk to him. For me, I feel as if there's a reason why I'm holding on to these feelings and why I've seen him in the randomest of places. I'm just really scared that I'll stick my head out and he'll a)reject me or b)think i'm insane for messaging him after so long

My friend says a message would be welcoming, but I just don't know. Any advice?:(

If he told you "never speak to me again" thats a huge statement and maybe a reason not to reach out to him anymore, as you already tried once and that was his response......

Also, if you are "afraid" of rejection, maybe that too is another reason not to reach out to him b/c if he does reject you (50/50 chance) you will be stressing it and the 3 1/2 years you spent out of contact with him will be in vain and for nothing.

Also, if you text him after 3 1/2 years it will make you look pathetic that you still haven't moved on.

I know thats not what you want to hear. Im so sorry. But if you really really really want to send him a note then do this:

Send him your note asking him how he feels but at the end say "no need to reply, just absorb this email"

And then leave it at that..........that way you wont have to sit and wait for a reply. If he reaches out to you great.......if not, tell yourself he'll reach out to you in time . Maybe he'll reach a low point one night and remember that email and contact you.

Before contacting him, I believe you should first think the reason you want to contact him at the first place.

Is it because you have not moved on with someone else and feel lonely?

Are your feelings true or not?

If they are true why you didnt try to contact him earlier?

Perhaps you might want to resist this urge and move on with your life with someone new. After all people change after 3 1/2 years so did your ex.
