Which is better - running or jogging?

Recommended Posts

I concur.

Been MT biking and road biking for two years now. Mostly it helps clear my mind and I feel too it's easier on the joints. Constant pounding of your knees from running, doesn't make sense to me.

I did road riding on my mountain bike 10 years ago after my serious breakup. I would ride a route that was 39 miles. Lots of hills! I would channel the anger and upset I had through my legs and into the pedals. Bloody hell......it worked!! And I released all that.

I need to start this again :)

yes, do it again and keep at it.

It's a fun form of exercise and very soothing to the mind as well.

I still have the bike. And it's got a computer on it.

First, I am going to renew my gym membership. i do that tomorrow! And then go buy some good foods and vitamins.

I have let myself go to bloody hell. No wonder that woman didn't love me, LOL!

But I have to be brutally honest with myself and admit that. I even made a nude vid of myself to see what i actually look like now. And it ain't good! I deleted it.......

Hey! I used to be HOT. Now I am NOT. lol! But I can improve :)

See ya :)

Feelin Frisky

I don't run or jog. But upon thinking of it I don't think I've seen too many grown men who are tall doing too much running. It gets pretty jarring. I walk as fast as it gets though and try to make my strides as long as I can to get the most exercise out of it.

What make is it?

Mine currently is a Specialized StumpJumper, FSR Comp:bunny:

I don't know the make right now. I won it in a draw many years back. It's one of the first mountain type bikes built. And has no shocks. I have set it up specifically for road riding. I can take it off road. But the chain always jams up in the dirt. So it's kind of useless for that. I put a carrier and saddle bags on the back. And it's got lights front and back for night riding. The computer takes care of all my millage, average times, speed, etc..

Running! Feels great :)

When I'm dragging, I jog. I much prefer running!

Biking is fun, but gets expensive. And you need storage.

At the gym I go to there's a stationary bike/video game. Where you are on a stationary bike in front of a screen that shows you where you're going. You have to steer and the terrain on the screen is matched on the difficulty to pedal. It's very realistic and a very cheap and easy alternative to actual biking.

I usually run as well though as I don't have the attention span for a couple hour jog.

That sounds really cool!

I'm an outdoors addict, though. I run outdoors, rain or shine, hot or cold.

I would agree stationary equipment is pretty boring. So here is what I do. I break it up. I spend 10 minutes on a piece of equipment and then move over to something else.

10 on treadmill

10 on bike

10 on rowing machine

10 on "whatever" else is in the gym I am at.

After that, I hit the good stuff - the free weights! :D

works for me.

I think Running and Jogging both are the good but if you are starting afresh then do light jogging in the starting and then after some time you can switch to running both are good and effective and are considered as the best natural weight loss system. With Running and Jogging Exercise is also important to live a healthy life.

I've recently taken up training for longer-distance races, and while I'm probably technically jogging given the speed (in the 5.5mph range) at which I typically train, I'm finding anything slower than a fast jog to be physically more difficult than what's technically running (6.0+mph).

How about just brisk walking? ;)

Or riding a bike. Easier on the joints!

I agree.

Sprinting or running & never on the road or solid surface, with no give. Jogging was hard on my joints.

Forever Learning

I have a hard time with the impact of running now that I am over 40. I tried to sprint recently and wasnt properly warmed up and my calves buckled and I ate the dirt. Luckily I made a quick recovery. I think walking is what I need to stick to or light jogging due to mild arthritis that isnt going anywhere at the moment.

I never run. Too boring, too hard on the joints. Consistency is more important than speed. I love walking because I usually have somewhere to go, i.e. bank, supermarket, CVS, library, cupcake bakery. :o I take a different route each time and get to know my neighbors and their dogs.

  • 1 month later...

According to me both are good but do light jogging & running in starting and after some time you can continue move light to heavy. Jogging & running maintain your body healthy.
