fortyninethousand322 Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 At any given time I could play these songs and not get tired of them. So I guess they're the best candidates for songs that I identify with. 1. "Bad Company" - Bad Company 2. "Some Guys Have all the Luck" - Rod Stewart 3. "I Got a Name" - Jim Croce 4. "The Lemon Tree" - Peter, Paul, and Mary 5. "Stairway to Heaven" - Led Zeppelin
Nexus One Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Made a playlist. I'd say most of the songs reflect how I've been feeling throughout 2011, but some of the songs also reflect parts of my personality. Enjoy. Just press play in the lower left corner to start listening the songs: http://bit.ly/qH8nhr
Star Gazer Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 d) 'One'... U2 That's one of my favorite songs of all time, but I don't think it describes a person. The song that fits me best doesn't even have lyrics - Life in Technicolor, Coldplay: (The video isn't important. Sit with your eyes closed and listen.) That song is me. Right there. It starts off light, contemplative, and builds and builds, becoming more and more complex, but still energetic, almost aggressive, excited, and cheerful, and then just...succeeds. LOVE it. I'm also a huge fan of country music, and I don't care who mocks me. It fits. "Who I Am" by Jessica Andrews, it's as though she's singing for me: When I'm feeling a little down and need to kick my own butt, "Stand" by Rascal Flatts always does the trick:

Stand, very nice choice.
Tybalt Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Being a singer and formerly in a band, I'm pretty obsessed with music. My likes are pretty eclectic but on the ipod in heavy rotation lately: You - Atmosphere 32 Flavors - Alana Davis The Scientist - Coldplay Fader - Temper Trap Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart - Alicia Keys Ready For Love - India.Arie Crank - Catherine Wheel Alison Krauss - Down To The River To Pray Music is so telling about a person. I'm big into lyrics. If I am not impressed by them in some way I don't get hooked into a song for the most part.
Eternal Sunshine Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 There is something about this song that I relate to.....perhaps not the exact lyrics...just the tone (me when I am in love) - melancholic yet hopeful. Sway by Bic Runga

mrgoodcat Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 (edited) Some people in this thread should listen to the radio now and then....and not to the 80's. Jesus...I came in looking to hear some cool tunes and .....OMG. "Marvin's Room" by Drake http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeIj_1X9JFA "Swim Good" by Frank Ocean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eV2WeS0fGo Edited October 5, 2011 by mrgoodcat

Nexus One Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Thanks!! Added the song from Coldplay you posted to my music collection, hadn't heard it before. Those happy tunes will now forever be associated with that cute girl in the blue jacket with the big blue eyes called Star Gazer.
OnyxSnowfall Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 break of reality - spectrum of the sky (of course there's a couple of tool and avenged sevenfold songs that can pertain as well lol).
Nexus One Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Some more songs, click the "play all button" at the top to play the songs, that goes for my previous link too by the way: http://bit.ly/nSAzv6
Voldar Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Some more songs, click the "play all button" at the top to play the songs, that goes for my previous link too by the way: http://bit.ly/nSAzv6 Oh some Snow Patrol. I never got around to listening a lot of their music, except for a few songs, however, I am going to listen to these and see how they are. Hehe.
Taramere Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 "Stupid Girl" by Garbage, probably, but I don't want to find myself lying on my deathbed one day thinking it was all defined by a pop tune. I'm hoping the music running through my head at that point will be somethig like the Third movement of Beethoven's Sonata in C sharp minor (the fast bit of the one that starts out with Moonlight Sonata). I want to go out with a bang - even if it's only in my head.
torn_curtain Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 (edited) Fck it, I just made a tiny playlist (click play all). These are some of the songs I'd play on my radio show in college: http://grooveshark.com/playlist/Noname+s+Playlist+1/61181973 The lyrics in "Stephanie Says" really speak to me. The others are mostly about the sound. This song is my boyfriend (he introduced it to me): http://grooveshark.com/s/19h11+Original+Mix/GmugN?src=5 pulsing with non stop energy, intense, aggressive, masculine, more detached, SEXY. He's way cooler than I am. It also reminds me of the vibe of LA at night which I associate with him. Edited October 5, 2011 by torn_curtain
Author ThsAmericanLife Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 I have a Peter Pumpkinhead complex I LOVE XTC. One of my favorites from them is "Dear God"... and a bunch of other songs on that same album.
snug.bunny Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Half is Mysterious Ways by U2 (my serious/complex side) The other half is Steal My Sunshine by Len (my bubbly/jolly side )

"The Lemon Tree" - Peter, Paul, and Mary 5. "Stairway to Heaven" - Led Zeppelin I'm familiar with 1,2 and 5... but not the others. Will have to check them out!! Thanks for sharing! My saddest 'memory' of 'Stairway to Heaven' was as a kid in middle school. It was my first 'dance' and noone asked me to dance. Not one. This was a popular slow dance song back in the 70's-80's... and if you were consigned to the sidelines it wasn't fun. Stairway to Heaven is my first choice of songs I'd be inspired to learn how to play flute to accompany... Van Morrison songs too...
Author ThsAmericanLife Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 "Behind Blue Eyes" by the Who. Enough said. Awesome song. Had been awhile since I listened to it... forgot how powerful those lyrics were...

Those happy tunes will now forever be associated with that cute girl in the blue jacket with the big blue eyes called Star Gazer. Awww! What blue jacket though? And my eyes aren't blue... They're very green.
Nexus One Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Awww! What blue jacket though? And my eyes aren't blue... They're very green. The jacket/coat you're wearing in the photo with the runners in the background. I also like your style in the picture where you're wearing a cap. The hair styles and clothing styles in those two photo's fit you well. On my monitor your eyes look somewhat blue-ish on some photo's, but tft-monitors aren't that color accurate, so that might explain the color difference. Green it is then.
