How come men's sense of timing is so off from women's?

I noticed that men are more prone to forget important dates and occasions that women always remember: such as Birthdays, anniversaries, writing letters, calling at a certain time, ect.

This used to hurt me alot, but I learned to accept that their "clock" runs on different time than ours.

I know there are many exceptions to this general rule, but I just wondered why this is so?

Once a man told me that men think more in terms of "space" and woman more in terms of "time" (time and space)

Men's minds are far too busy remembering the fine details of their sexual encounters to remember birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Just kidding!!!

Actually, I think most men are less sentimental than women, they are more stressed with job and home responsibilities, and some even consider it unmanly to remember birthdays, anniversaries, and other special milestones. It may be a male thing.

There are also men who have remembered such dates in the past and did not receive sufficient positive reinforcement to continue. For example, if a guy remembered a girl's birthday, her mom and dad's birthday, the anniversary of their meeting, etc., and then the relationship ended badly, he may not be as likely to be so mindful next time.

There are many reasons for this, I'm sure...but let me assure you that if a man has the will to remember anything, he will surely do so.

If a man knows that these things are important to his mate- he will make it a point to remember. Or- at least make a reminder for himself- on a calender- or sticky note- etc...

If he doesn't remember or make an effort to- he doesn't care or doesn't realize that this is a need belonging to his mate. Men who are intune to the emotional needs of their spouses\girlfriends- not only make a notable effort to remember- they also make a memorable time out of the event. This makes the recipient feel much love and admiration for the mate that remembers- thus creating those unforgetable sexual experiences that Tony mentioned. Its all relative- "remember?"

Hmmm, sounds familiar.

To men, dates such as those you mentioned are just that - - a date - - a number on a calendar.

To women, these dates are measures of a man's love for us. If he forgets, we perceive love lacking in the relationship. Most men just have no idea of the emotional value we place on anniversaries and occasions.

As with most differences, a little communication goes a long way to understanding and being understood.

I would just like to say this (no offense to all you men out there) Men have no sense of time! I think sometimes their days run together and they can't even remember what day it is! Now if a date is important to them than they will make a point to remember it. Such as if their mate's birthday is important to them they will remember it and do something special. If it is not important to them than they don't sound like a very caring person at all. My fiance' just remembers the ones that are important to him such as, my birthday, our daughters birthday, his mothers birthday, our anniversary and of course his birthday. I am the one that is responsible for remembering the rest. Thats just how men are and that is the way they will always be. We just have to learn to live with it.
