notsoleet
I've been insecure about my jawline/chin for years. I have a strong jaw/pointy chin for a female, and I know it. You can sort of tell in this picture that my jaw/pointy chin dominate my face. http://oi52.tinypic.com/4so7e9.jpg. I am always super self-conscious about it because I notice that people stare at my mouth/chin/jaw when I talk. Even if they are taller than me, which a lot of people are, they end up staring at my mouth area. I am envious of women with smaller jaws and end up being attracted to guys with weaker jaws just because I don't want my offspring, if I ever have any, to have strong jaws. Is this normal? How do I get over this? Every time I look in the mirror, I look at my jaw/chin and I always feel my jawline because I think my jaw/chin are too big for my face. I just want to stop caring about this. Citizen Erased
Sustained eye contact is kinda weird, we tend to look away a lot when talking to other people and the mouth area is pretty convenient. Not looking deep into your eyes but not wandering south either. First thing I noticed about you was your eyes in that picture. Your chin and jaw are completely normal. Author notsoleet
I don't think so. Maybe the picture isn't an accurate depiction. This is with my hair in the back. http://oi56.tinypic.com/2bqmvr.jpg Even back in high school, almost a decade ago, one of my friends said that I have a strong jaw and spoke of it as the characteristic that "stood out." And the jaw grows with age. Whenever I speak to people they stare at my chin/jaw and I don't think they do that when they speak to other people. I just have developed some kind of weird thing where I constantly notice peoples' jaws/chins because I'm so insecure about mine.
Author notsoleet
That's the same photo. Maybe your friend was bitchy and trying to make you feel bad. Honestly your jaw doesn't look big *at all*. Was she Asian too? I've noticed that Asian women are often self conscious about their jaws and want smaller ones (even when their jaws aren't big to begin with). No, my friend was a Latino guy who wasn't self-conscious at all. I think he was just being honest/straightforward. I don't know. Maybe it's not as bad as I think it is. It's just this decade-long weird insecurity has gotten to the point where I tend to focus on jaws/chins when I look at people. Edited October 14, 2011 by notsoleet

I'm sorry that your insecurities have gotten so bad that you felt the need to post about it on here. Well, from the first picture you posted, you look normal. I would strongly recommend, though, trying not to care about what people think about you; also try not being too critical on yourself. As someone that was extremely self-conscious about things at one point, I've learned that it's best to try and accept yourself as who you are; to try and not obsess over whatever you're insecure about. I've noticed that if you pay too much attention at what you obsess over (in your case it would be jaw/chin), it will eventually get to the point where it looks bigger than it actually is! As cliche as this sounds, there are more important things to worry about than how you think people perceive your chin/jaw. In all honesty, people are so caught up in their own little worlds that, you're just another passerby. They don't notice whatever you're insecure about. AHardDaysNight
You're cute, and you have a very feminine jawline. There's nothing wrong with your looks at all!
tman666
I think you have a very balanced face! You look like you could be an actress.
FitChick
Good lord, I was expecting you to look as bad as Reese Witherspoon. You are much prettier than she is and look perfectly normal. I am not someone to sugarcoat things and I am very critical of appearance, both mine and other people's. So believe me! Find new friends.
Author notsoleet
Thanks for the responses, everyone. I still think they are bigger than average for my face. I am probably over-emphasizing the size though, because I am focused on it. I still don't have the confidence to wear my hair up, for example. Maybe that pic wasn't representative? I might post another picture later on, from a side view. I'd really appreciate your honesty.
