yes
So, what do you think of the world? Is the world a place of chaos, impossible to make sense of? If so, is it wonderful chaos to dive around and swim in, or a scary chaos where one has to get through safely? Is the world moving towards some goal or state? Would you like it to? Do you have a vision of how the world should be? If so, do you feel like you're working towards that ideal? Is the world doomed? Any other options you can think of go here. I'd much prefer to have a communist-style "vision" of the future, and have the whole society, or better yet humanity, collaboratively work towards it (not communist-style content-wise!). But in reality it seems to me that the world is more of a sometimes wonderful, sometimes spooky chaos, where all one can do is try to stay safe, have some fun, try not to throw others into the fire, help some stay away from the fire... and that's really it - nobody will ever know who started the chaos or where it's all going. Comments, plz! Naive 'yes' needs you opinions! =) -yes
HokeyReligions
Originally posted by yes So, what do you think of the world? Honestly, not a lot. Is the world a place of chaos, impossible to make sense of? I don't believe that making sense of anything is necessary for survival or for happiness. If so, is it wonderful chaos to dive around and swim in, or a scary chaos where one has to get through safely? Both and neither Is the world moving towards some goal or state? All life has some kind of cycle and when the completion of that cycle (whatever it may be) is reached, a new cycle may begin. There are many millions of cycles running simultaneously. No one knows how to determine the beginning or end of a cycle--I don't think it can be defined. Is death really the end of the life-cycle? Our bodies go on nourishing other entities long after what we see as death. Would you like it to? No. How boring and predictable. Do you have a vision of how the world should be? I have random thoughts of how I would LIKE the world to be, but those change all the time. If so, do you feel like you're working towards that ideal? No, 'the world' is out of my control. Is the world doomed? Doomed to what? Any other options you can think of go here. I think life is random. All life--including the life of the planet and the solar system and the tiniest cell that we might not even think of as life. That may be chaos, but chaos is just a word, like order and symmatry are words. Are any of them real? Perhaps life IS a hologram! Perhaps all life is linked in ways we have not yet discovered. Perhaps we are all separate and alone in our own 'life bubbles' and we just randomly bump into each other. Perhaps we are like the lava in a lava lamp -- have you ever really studied one? It heats up, the lava melts and small, individual bubbles of lava rise to the surface, only to be weighted down by their own insides. As the lava gets hotter the bubbles knock into each other and sometimes they merge together. At some point all the lava, except for a few tiny bubbles, have joined into one thick column of lava that goes from the top to the bottom and the air pockets rise within the lava making it undulate. As it gets hotter still, the column breaks apart into two or three large bubbles which continually merge and break apart and rise and fall. As it gets even hotter the lava breaks up into smaller and smaller bubbles - just the way it started out. I think the world is like that. Hey! You asked!
moimeme
So, what do you think of the world? I love it, but it disappoints me sometimes. Is the world a place of chaos, impossible to make sense of? Oh heck no. People do the exact same things the exact same ways over and over. There is no chaos at all; it's all just repetition. It's just none of us has lived long enough to learn enough to not repeat the same things generations before us did. Nothing is new - not war, not love, not hate. Things rearrange differently, but the overall pattern is just exactly as it always has been. If so, is it wonderful chaos to dive around and swim in, or a scary chaos where one has to get through safely? One hasn't a choice. Events will catch up to you. Some innocent people were driving along a road the other day and a girder from a construction project fell on them and squished them. You can't tell what will happen and you sure can't prevent it for the most part. There are certain known risks, and to a certain extent you can mitigate for them, but otherwise, it's a surprising place. It's not that it's chaotic, it's just that you can't predict where the patterns will appear next. Is the world moving towards some goal or state? Would you like it to? Is it? Maybe. Would I like it to? You bet. Do you have a vision of how the world should be? I would love it if most people would be kind to most people most of the time. If so, do you feel like you're working towards that ideal? I do it in a small way (here, for instance) but I keep feeling there's more to be done and I have a couple ideas in that regard. Is the world doomed? Any other options you can think of go here. Well, IF people don't wise up and start treating people around the world better (to remove reasons people go to war) and/or IF people don't take better care of the planet, maybe. I'd much prefer to have a communist-style "vision" of the future, and have the whole society, or better yet humanity, collaboratively work towards it (not communist-style content-wise!). Nuns are the epitome of what communism was supposed to be - people working together for a common goal and helping each other. Unfortunately, Mr. Stalin and a few of his cronies ruined what could have been a good idea. Well, knowing the ultimate end isn't all that useful, when you think of it, to your own life. Other than, I suppose, if you knew that you were going to die much earlier than you hoped, you might arrange your life differently but knowing the ultimate end of the planet isn't likely to affect you - or, if it does, there's not a lot you can do anyway.
