Thinkalot
OK, most of you know the issues I'm battling with OCD and insecurity..blah blah. I also have always been a worrier, and prone to anxiety, and wanting full control. Sometimes that can lead to negativity, and you can miss good things that way. This week, I decided to follow the old rule about the power of positive thinking, and make a big effort, to be positive. After all, my life is full of wonderful things right now. I have more great things happening now, and coming up in the next year than I have had for some time. If you believe in the wheel of fortune of life, I reckon I'm on an upswing. They don't last forever, so I better make the most of it! Starting right now! Something johan said in response to another post of mine, about "one day all this worrying will just stop", made me think, well I can't switch the thoughts off, that's beyond my power right now...but I can right now decide to take each day in a different spirit. Once I made that decision, I felt lighter, my life seemed to 'glow' with all the good things in it. I felt I was so lucky and blessed to have my partner, my family, my health, financial security and my dreams, which are coming true...and a wealth of future exciting plans. I don't know how it is that I am managing to keep this perspective, when it's usually tough for me, owing to the OCD...but I sure am glad, and I'm going to try and be vigilant with this positive thinking from now on. The obsessive thoughts push in from time to time, but I shove them back out, and refuse to feed them. Wish me luck in keeping this up!! I am not of course always negative by any means, or a wet blanket or anything...I can be a bright soul, and have taken stock like this before...I just want to keep up this level of positive thinking for a while this time. Hell, I' even entering my usual PMS time, but that's not getting me either (could be the PMS relief tablets I started on this month..lol!). My partner gave be a big bear hug as he went to work today, and said "I don't know what switch you have flicked inside you, but whatever is going on with you, I LOVE it...you seem so happy. I'm not even used to it!" He has been so tense and stressed with me, and with work for so long, hanging in through all my issues, that this will hopefully help him start to feel happier and lighter too. LILUIL
well done! i can identify with you on this. it's like when you feel good about yourself, people around you tend to pick up on positive signals... see, your partner commented so quickly. to keep it going is easy.... "For now you are travelling the road between who you are and who you can be, the key is to allow yourself to make the journey" "He who does not dream dreams, cannot have his dreams come true" Motivational quotes and so many inspirational books around for us to enjoy. I'm happy for you cheers,
Maria46
Your posts are so upbeat and it sounds like you are really on the right path. I did read many of your posts and that is what brought me to the conslusion that I did. One of the many things you can put on your list of "how I helped other people in my life" is sharing with the many people that suffer as you have. I know that you and your posts are a major reason I am finally, at 47 years old, figuring out what is wrong with me. I know that I will be here daily to get my new words of wisdom. Hopefully I will have my own wisdom to share with others soon. Thank you so much!
Author Thinkalot
Thanks so much Maria! You really made me feel warm. It's nice to think I can actually help at least one other, by sharing my own battles, and successes! Good luck on your journey. The fact you have started on it means you are already a long way there! longlegzs80
I have to agree with Maria46, your posts are always very positive and inspirational and I can tell you are doing everything and anything to get a better life for yourself. I have to commend you. You are a big inspiration to me and as much as it is hard to follow in your shoes as far as the positive thinking goes, it is something that is worth a try. I find myself always being the negative one and the people who are positive and happy I always like to ask what is their secret. That is my goal is to be positive and happy in life. So, if you have any words of incouragement, please let me know. Thank you. SARAH
Maria46
Thinkalot You have helped more people than you will ever know. I believe many people will read your posts and maybe not join this forum, but what you write will stick with them for quite some time. You are someone that I and many other people would like to have as a best friend as, from what I have read, you are quite open and honest about all of your dealings. Am sure you will be rewarded in your next life for what you have done in this one. Will be back tomorrow to read the latest from you!!! Maria
Author Thinkalot
Thank you both for the kind words. LL...I think it takes time and effort to have positive thinking become a habit! I'm not quite there yet. It's easy when things are going well (as they are for me right now)..but every now and then, I too have a setback, or something doesn't go as planned, and I let it get to me...then I give myself a quick talking to, and move on with the positive way of looking at things. Life really is better when you can manage it. The world becomes a better place to be.
