Mrlonelyone
I can't give any details that I did not before here (Since if I do someone will piece together things like what I study, where I live, and what religion the place is and then tell Tony that I "revelead personal information". Never mind the aspect of someone needing to "dig".) The person who after a third party, which he insisted that I consult with, said my writing was "well written", then he had a little tantrum and called me racially derrogatory things, was not promoted.. Meanwhile I will have graduated in three months because now I have honest advisement. My new project involved (for the same reason I can't tell you.. , and as good as "seven of ninie" (Jeri Ryan)). So to all minorities who are ever racially insulted in the work place. Don't be afraid to say something to superior authorities. Even in a academic environment and if that person has some kind of power over you. There are things you can do even if you don't go as far as any formal procedures against them. Simply reporting what they did can be enough to set things straight. Staying silent and just getting along is not always the right thing. Especially if it's a person who trys to present themselves as actively anti-racist. Edited November 7, 2011 by Mrlonelyone
denise_xo
I'm really happy to hear it worked out well for you and that standing your ground paid off. Good luck with your final months
ladyravenloft
I think this goes beyond just minorities. I believe that everyone at one point or another have been racially/sexually/culturally insulted. We all need to stand up for ourselves and each other. I could give a great example where my sex and color were used against me while on the job in regards to a much coveted position at a former employers. To keep it mild, I will simply state that it referred to my race, and how I'd always have a man to take care of me, since women of my race always did so therefore I didn't need the promotion or the job in general. Stand up for each other people. There is no greater evil than a good man that does nothing.
