I'm engaged!

Recommended Posts

Granted, it hasn't been that long, but I have known my BF was 'the one' for awhile now, I think. Anyway, he made me pancakes and popped the question this morning. No engagement ring, as he knows I hate them, but he already went out and bought our wedding bands and gave them to me instead. We put them on each other. It was kinda cute.

My BF said he did it today because 11 / 11 is supposed to be a 'wish' number, and after meeting me, he has nothing else to wish for but this (marrying me). Super cute and corny, as he is.

It still doesn't feel real. Ever since he went to work this morning, I've been wondering whether to share it on LS. Someone asked "When did you know?" and I can honestly say I thought (didn't know!) I'd marry him from the first time we said ILY.

ETA: I don't think it'll really sink in till all my stuff is in his house and we have the piece of paper, really. It just feels bizarre to even look down at my hand, but in the best way! (Ugh, this post sounds all gushy and weird. I feel like such a girl. ;) )

Congrats, Zengirl!!! So how long have you been dating, and how long have you known each other? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

(FWIW, my husband and I dated for 7 months before getting engaged. We had known each other for close to a year when he proposed.)

We're at about 7 months as well. And we didn't know each other before, so not long at all. But I cannot think of more than a handful of days we've been apart (and only then when I was traveling) since August, so it feels like longer somehow. :) We said ILY early this summer, and it sort of escalated dramatically from there. I basically live at his place now; it'll be nice to get my stuff here!

Hey, when you know, you know !!!!! Congrats ! Sunday I will have been married one month and we worked together and were best friends for 7 months, but started dating aug 24th, he moved in Aug 28th, and we married Oct 13, and I HAVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER ! I had never done "friends first", so that helped a lot, and we were dealing with a lot of outside stuff, I think marrying sealed the deal that " Were in this together, for life, no matter what" whereas just dating, the stress might have pulled us apart !

Again, congratulations, and more details ! How did you meet, and go ahead and gush about how wonderful, smart, kind and handsome he is !!!!

Congrats to you too!

We met on OKC. No really cute story there -- I thought he looked cute and interesting, I messaged him, we started going out, and things were just great from the get-go and only got better. (Not that we haven't had a fight or two---we have, but I love the fact that we can fight about something without fighting about or questioning the relationship; it's perfect.)

He is just fantastic. He is definitely the sentimental romantic of the two of us, as the proposal story kind of shows -- he saves tickets and photographs and mementos of us. He is a good cook. He is smart and funny and has big dreams, and he is always supportive of my dreams. He is just the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I know we'll be fantastic partners for life.

We haven't sorted it all yet, obviously, but I think we are going to have a small wedding at the courthouse, hopefully, in December when our parents are both down for Christmas, and then we had a three week trip to California and Hawaii planned for January anyway, so that will be our 'honeymoon,' I guess. We have several trips planned for 2012 and definitely don't need an excuse to take them. Mostly, I'm just looking forward to start building a life with him and continue enjoying the day-to-day. I'm not a wedding gal, and neither is he obsessed with that aspect, but I'm sure the trip will be romantic.

I feel mostly . . . content. There is a deep sort of happiness that just fills my being. No drama, no question, just. . . sure. And happy. :)

Think you're thinking of another poster who now lives with a guy she used to call that when they first started dating.

Heartfelt congratulations!!!

I like the pancakes part....

Me too! He makes the best pancakes, and he makes them from scratch (he makes the mix himself and keeps it pre-mixed in the cupboards). :)
