mark982
ok.. been doing a experiment the last year or so and could use some opinions. i try to keep my meals about the same everday calorie wise, protein wise etc. now whenever i use a protein shake insted of a meal, it goes right to my stomach and makes my middle bigger.so i lay off the shakes and use whole foods, and belly disappears. was reading articles by vince gordina (sp). and he said that shakes lay in your stomach and just turn to sugar as they are not a complete food...could use some insight...tman-hokie? tman666
I know that whey protein is said to be more insulin-spiking than other "whole food" proteins, but I'm not sure why. The advantage of using a protein supplement is the ability to get in a lot of high quality protein in (without superfluous calories) after a workout if your goal is to gain size/strength. If fat loss is a priority over strength/size gains, I would say that whey protein supplementation isn't necessary and that you're better off getting your protein requirements met by (clean) "whole food" sources.
