kaleidoscope
I'm trying to improve myself and I'd like to know if the ladies could give me an idea of: 1) What image do you have of a guy you would like to marry. (Links to photos would be great) 2) What image do you have of a guy you would be intimate with. I know that 1) and 2) might be the same but for 2) I'm just looking for an answer regarding who you would hook up with but not have a long term relationship with. I personally want a long term relationship but and want to be 1) but I'm also curious. I'm ok physically but I really really want to impress this one woman. I don't want to change who I am of course, I just want to impress her. Thanks
Eeyore79
This is the guy I'd like to marry: http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/thumblarge_415/1246864097spQGF8.jpg He's smart and clean cut, white collar and successful looking in his suit, not overweight and probably works out, he's probably smart and interesting, and he seems happy and confident. He's attractive, but not so handsome that he loves himself or is likely to stray. I don't really do intimacy outside of a relationship, but if I did, I'd pick this guy: http://loltteenz.yolasite.com/resources/cute-guy.jpg He is absolute physical perfection... and he knows it. He adores himself, and women adore him; there's no way he'd ever commit to a relationship. But he's beautiful, and therefore ideal for a fling. Maybe he's not smart, not successful, not even interesting, but it doesn't matter - a fling is all about the physical.

One look at his mug and I heard that piercing music from Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" ripping though my head.

I'm a relationship girl so (prepare to be bored) 1 and 2 are the same for me. Tall, dark, and delicious Tall, meaty, and delicious What? An older man? Ok. If you insist. I love gingers. Especially a rascally one. Once we're horizontal, height doesn't matter.

cerridwen
Only 2 out of your 5 loaded for me. (Jon Hamm and Laird Hamilton) Hmm. The rest were Triple X-rated so that may be why. Vince Vaughn Prince Harry Mark Wahlberg were the others. Thanks for letting me know, FF.

cerridwen
Right??? Oh, absolutely! It's a very unfortunate picture. Jonathan Rhys Meyers sometimes gets that crazy look too. Bravo on the word choice "ripping."
choppedkittens
Guys I want to marry will inevitably also be ones I want to screw, but it doesn't work the other way around. Bear in mind a lot of this is based on projected personality. I can't separate looks and personality. 1) marry him (probably the only actor I can think of who projects the right combination of intelligence, confidence, sexiness, charm, reflectivity and warmth/sweetness that I like.) 2) screw only or this one or even despite the crazy what woman can turn down that face Edited December 6, 2011 by choppedkittens
Author kaleidoscope
Thanks for the photos. It gives me a few ideas of what I want to project. I'm sure there are more opinions of course for different women but that helps a lot. But thanks for confirming that what guys think is appealing to women isn't necessarily true. cerridwen
This thread is awesome! Thanks for the advice ladies. I need to come up with a list of questions and start a similar type thread. You should! You sound energetic! Choppedkittens, our taste couldn't be further apart but in his heyday...yes, we agree on the last photo. I just looked again. It's the eyes. Seneca
I'm not sure I understand the point of this thread? Could someone clarify? Are you looking for tips on how to dress? I don't want to change who I am of course, I just want to impress her. It's my opinion that women don't care too much about being impressed by a man. Rather, they want a man who is interesting. And an interesting man is a man who is genuinely interested in her.
Author kaleidoscope
Hi cerridwen, no I'm not dating her yet. She's my closest friend and we write to each other all the time and give each other support when we need it. She's is many miles away but I'm moving to her city in a month for a job! So I'm hoping to wow her when we go for a cup of coffee. She already knows I have this massive crush on her but nothing has moved forward. I'm just head over heels for her. I think she's a great catch because she understands me and I can open up to her about anything. I'm in love with everything about her. Its strange with her because I don't even want to date her. I just want to marry her :-)) But first things first I guess.
Author kaleidoscope
Seneca, For this thread, I'm just trying to focus on the attraction aspect for now. I know all the other aspects of yourself are more important, probably much more important. But this is my first time meeting her for a long time and I want her to be attracted to me Any visual images of desirable guys to women might help me get an idea of what I can incorporate into my style. It could be clothes, hairstyle, muscles, body language, or just the way they present themselves in generally. The women don't have to pinpoint those details really. Just posting a picture of a guy that is their ideal would be good enough.
Seneca
Seneca, But this is my first time meeting her for a long time and I want her to be attracted to me Any visual images of desirable guys to women might help me get an idea of what I can incorporate into my style. The women don't have to pinpoint those details really. Just posting a picture of a guy that is their ideal would be good enough. Ok, but what you are going to get are skewed results. All women have different types of men they want. And it may not be what your woman wants. You say you are her closest friend, so you should know what type of man she wants. But then there's the paradox that women really don't know what they want. That's another thing. If you want to impress her with your style. Check out a GQ magazine or Esquire. GQ has a manual to dressing up. If you want the attraction... well, if I could break down attraction in 3 simple steps it would be: 1. Confidence 2. Humor 3. Charm (Seduction) You've been friends for awhile so the big thing that you really have missing is the seduction side. Romance her more.
Author kaleidoscope
Thanks Seneca. Yes, I was worried about that. I could ask her what type of guys she likes and try to be that but that probably blows the charm and seduction I suppose.

Despite the images above, there are a few other men I deem sexy; men who deviate from the type to which I linked. I simply chose the most common. Rather than ask her directly, take into account the men she's dated in the past. Note physical commonalities among them. Also look at how she styles herself (we're often attracted to similar). Is she goth? A fashionista? A hipster? These are all clues as to what she may prefer. Does she work out often? Is she sporty? She may value physical fitness then. TBH, I do worry a bit you'd change yourself radically to suit her preference. You seem to have strong feelings for this lucky girl. Don't lose yourself, okay? Good luck, K. Seneca
Thanks Seneca. Yes, I was worried about that. I could ask her what type of guys she likes and try to be that but that probably blows the charm and seduction I suppose. TBH, I do worry a bit you'd change yourself radically to suit her preference. You seem to have strong feelings for this lucky girl. Don't lose yourself, okay? cerridwen makes a good point about not losing yourself. Simple, but powerful. Women say this all the time to men. "Be yourself." And it's true, but something this simple somehow is... I don't know, overlooked? Basically, the bottomline is know who you are and be the best self you can be. Say your woman likes gothic guys. But what if you are a conservative guy? You can still try to pretend to be the gothic dude by dressing up as one. But it won't be authentic. And you will look rather silly, than impressive. So be your authentic self around her, enjoy being yourself, enjoy her company, have fun and don't force the attraction. Ease and delight. When you are enjoying the moment, she will be too.
FitChick
Gerard Butler and Russell Brand, not so much for their looks but for their minds (and sexy accents). I need a man with a brilliant mind and these men have them. The good looks are a bonus. Oh, yeah, and they are both spiritual.
