lady was surprised i dont want to be happy

So a few days ago I decided to get out the house and get my mind off the B/u,

I decided to go get some new clothes. Well in the mist of shopping, my mind started wondering and reminising about the ex. Before I knew it ,tears started coming down. A lady was watching me and came over to see if I was ok. I responded that I'm ok, just going through a break up, and is having a minor melt down.

She asked if I mind if she pray with me? And I said I don't mind.

We go off to the side out of clear view of everyone. And she told me to bow my head.

Well, she said ' Please, I want 'maryslamb' to be happy' and if that means removing (ex's name) from her life, please do so. And she kept saying 'please remove (ex name) from marylamb life so she can be a happy, person again. And when it was all said and done. She asked do you want (ex ) to be removed from your life, from your thoughts?

And I said 'No!

She said , baby, you are here crying in a store. Clearly you are unhappy. You are letting someone stop you from being happy, when he's probaly out liviing his life.

And I said I love him. I want him in my life.

She gave me a hug, and said she will continue to pray for me, but I need to take this time to think about some things, and think about who comes first..

you can be happy again without ur ex to be completely removed from ur life.

but u just need to give urself some time on healing.

its nice this stranger tried to help u though.

but unfortunately not everyone is able to give the right advice.

especially not when they don't know the whole story.

i don't know if ur religious.

but heck , if we are praying and getting wishes granted.

why not pray to get back together?

just my 2 cents...

I had a similar experience straight after my breakup. you were lucky. All the shop assistant did was stare at me and say nothing! That wasn't nice at all! You should lean on family and friends. Go easy on yourself and search for information on breakups.

Do you know something specific for break ups?

No not really. Just keep busy and do new things. I still read baggage reclaim like everyday. Stay in NC and don't fall in the trap of being used for sex by the ex.

Not sure where this comment came from. I haven't said anything about sex in none of my post.

she's probably just speaking from her own personal experiance.

either way i don't think your gonna find any more information than what's at hand on this forum already.

you broke up , now you need to become yourself again.

if you need any help on how then just read alot of the posts on these forums.

mostly all the advice is all the same.

the question is whether you can follow them when you decide to.

I've done the same thing, but managed to clear my face before arriving at a public place. The tears are so close to the surface...I know how it feels. Fast forward 5 years and now casual friends with the ex. Yes, he's still in my life, the kind of friend who has your number but doesn't remember your birthday, but will help you out if you ask. (But I don't ask.) I'm happy now, regardless. Clearly, I did not spend the past 5 years watching my phone, waiting for him to text. This, as well as the tears, pass after some time. Keep yourself busy with interests, and do self-improvement things. Maybe he'll remain in your life, or maybe not, but you can be happy again regardless.

Ahhh Maryslamb!

That was so very nice for the woman to comfort you! There are good people left in this world. Pray....Pray alot...God is listening! I pray everyday, constantly, even though I am in a rut...I know God is listening.....

Hang in there, it DOES get better!

Love u!!!

Wow, that's really bold IMO and really straight forward. It puts things in clear perspective and from a stranger too. I don't know what y'all are going to do with your heartache but personally I think the lady has it right. You need to put you first, take time to heal, and think about what's best for you. ~L
