MsLandon
Hi everyone. I recently had a 3rd date with the guy I've posted a couple of times about. He suggested that I come over for dinner and that we watch some movies...we both love the same type of films. I agreed and yesterday we had out date. It was was very nice. A couple of days before our date I was lokd by some friends about something called a 3rd date rule which means that the third date is the sex date. Have you guys heard of this? Also, I've heard that "Blockbuster" or "movie" nights are basically code for sex. what are your thoughts? Oh, also I've heard differing definitions of 1st base, 2nd base, Third base and home. You thoughts? I appreciate your feedback. Just trying to gain some clarity.
average guy
No none ever explained the rules of dating to me, so I have no idea But if you are worried that this is what he intends, and if you are not ready, then maybe change the time/place of the date to lunch or a movie at the theatre or somewhere lees likely to end up in bed ps. they didn't have videos when I was first dating - maybe that's why I never got laid! DerangedAngel
3rd date rule which means that the third date is the sex date. Have you guys heard of this? Also, I've heard that "Blockbuster" or "movie" nights are basically code for sex. what are your thoughts? I think that is absolutely ridiculous. I have never heard of such a thing. Go through with the date. If he hints at sex (besides throwing the word "Blockbuster" around a lot, etc), and you want sex, have sex. If he hints at sex, and you don't want sex, tell him so and/or leave. -Deranged
amerikajin
There is a 3rd-date sex rule, but the only people who take it seriously and live by it are male sluts. No decent guy would be pressuring you to have sex if you weren't up for it, although at the same time, you shouldn't be surprised if he tries to initiate a the groove thang just to see where you are at this point. After all, you're over watching movies; the lights are down low; you're close together; you get romantic; you've had some wine and a good dinner; and badaboom badabing! Maybe he leans over for a kiss just to test the waters. To reiterate, though, if he's a decent guy, he'll go for the kiss and he'll only go as far as you want to take it. He won't pout or get moody if he gets rebuffed.
Author MsLandon
He didn't seem to live by the 3rd date rule code. Granted we saw very little of the first movie At the first appearance that I was uncomfortable he became very concerned and even went so far as to not do that particular thing again. I really only reacted because things were very overwhelming; but it was nice to see that reation. Nice to see that he had my best interest at heart. Thanks for the feedback! faux
Any of the "Rules of Dating" I have heard are completely ridiculous. I have had women follow these rules and it only drove me away, much to their confusion. Do what comes naturally for YOU, and don't listen to your friends' silly ideas. If you think what you want to do, or are doing, is working and you are comfortable with it then that is all that matters. NEVER feel obligated to have sex.
